After a bit of research I bought these:
ASICS GT-2000 7
amazon.co.uk/Asics-Gt-2000-...
and they've been great so far.
Better price here though:

Anyone else got any recomendations?

I have the Ladies version! Comfy from day one! Love them!!
I run with Asics Kayano 25. I think they are for pronation and are a good stability and cushioned shoe
To be honest my recommendation would be not to rely only on recommendations from other runners because everyone has different needs. Shoes that are excellent for one runner may be totally unsuitable for another based on width, amount of cushioning, support (for over- or under-pronation or neither) to name but three factors. I wouldn't buy a first pair of running shoes online. I only buy online if I'm replacing like for like so I know the fit, cushioning etc will be more or less the same.
Unmm...
Didn’t buy my shoes online - did research them though before I tried them on in the shop - just so I knew what I was looking for.
Lots of different needs however not many shoes at this end of the market - not without getting outrageously expensive anyway.
Was looking at a second pair of trainers for when these ones get wet. I hate wet feet. So just crowd sourcing people’s experience that’s all...
I have a very similar ASICS gel trail runner for my weekend runs which are on light gravel. For week day running on pavement I have Nike Free RN 5.0 which are superb and heavily discounted at around 50 pounds at the moment. The ASICS replaced some generic New Balance trainers and made a huge difference.
Ohhh! Those ASICS look nice!

MIght ask my local shop to get some in for me to test.
Anyone copared both shoes? The GT 2000-7 and the Kayano 25? (I need every advantage I can get!)
