Went out today to run a 10k, first km 5.56 thought I really need to slow down . Second km 6.01. Don't know why its was as if I couldn't slow down the whole run . Ended up with about 8 or 10 short walking breaks. Really angry with myself as I should no what to do by now. Oh well rant over . Off for a shower and a calming walk with the dogππππ
When will I ever learn ππ: Went out today to... - Bridge to 10K
When will I ever learn ππ
You should never get angry with yourself, running is to be enjoyed, just put that down to a practice run.
I am doing JuJu's Magic 10K plan, this morning I ran for 35 minutes, no Mapmyrun with me but I would think it was about 5K, started the run at exactly 9am and stopped at 9.35, good run apart from being overtaken by two runners going at sub 25 minute 5K pace. π ππΎ
I hope you enjoy your calming walk with dog.
π Speedy Gonzalez! Don't be angry with yourself, you just ran 10k!
π€£π€£I've calmed down now . I just feel I ruined the run by going too fast and had to walk quite a few times
Glad you are feeling calmer and happier now. I think we're our own worst critics a lot of the time!
π Don't get hung up over it, at least you went out.. π
Yes you're right, stupid really π
I did a 10k virtual run for charity and couldn't run all of it and felt a tad disappointed I had to walk some of it. But then thought, oh well, it's for a good cause and I got a medal.. So felt better about it..
Ok I need some medals now π€£. I was looking at a 10k run last night, The Glasgow 10k Pizza run, you get 2 slices of pizza at the end and a pizza shaped medalπππ
10k and in a great time! Think of it as an interval training run!
This is exactly how I felt after my 10k on Monday, when I was trying to keep up with people who run much faster than I do! π€π€π
Why angry? sometimes you can slow down sometimes you canβt and have to walk a bit, itβs all running and all good experience, loads of people only dream of what you can do
I know seems very stupid now and you're right I should be thankful instead π
Well you should be buzzing I would be. My run yesterday was 3.8k and was buzzing for ages all happy that i can run and breathe, if i could run 10k iβd feel awesome, and so you are awesome just being able to do that and an inspiration to a lot of people
That sounds a bit like a lecture sorry itβs not meant as such
Good for you getting out and running 10k. All my runs have been like that recently and I had never walked before.
I really wouldnβt worry, I get the impression lots of people take walk breaks sometimes.
Yup!
Well done anyway π . Sometimes itβs really hard to slow down.
I think you need a rucksack full of house bricks to slow you down buddy π
But heck running breaks aren't a criminal offence.....
π€£π€£ sometimes trying to slow down is just too hard. Great 10k fantastic speed, I'm still happily puddling around at 7min/k . Happy running
Looks a great run. Be proud!
Some runs just donβt read the script! They end up being something quite unintentional. You have a speedy pace though. Hope you enjoy your next run.
Looks damn good to me π
I'd write that up as having achieved a strong finish, having planned to push myself hard for the first 2k as an experiment, before a mid-run recovery jog. Oh, and coming across some cute animal in the 8th k that you had to stop and photograph β¦..
If itβs any consolation I aspire to be able to run as well as that! π
You're so kind. Are you running the 10k plan just nowπ
Yes, just did the second run of week 1, we are going away today for a few days to the Bay of Islands which is as good as it sounds but rather hilly, need to find somewhere a bit flat to do my long run!
Buddy, at least u ran. I just went to work & sat on my bum! Well done.
Agree with everything everyone else has said... and just think how boring it would be if every run worked out just as we wanted... it gives us something to focus on in the next run. It's all good π
10k, that's a dream to me! Don't be hard on yourself, you're just human π
Slowing down can be almost impossible sometimes. Your brain can scream as loudly as possible but your legs just keep doing their own thing. I often find a brief walk sometimes helps force a "reset" but not every time and I think you were having one of those times today too. Still, I've done 10k runs without any walking that have been slower than that one, so I wouldn't beat yourself up too much.
I feel your pain. Well, half of it. I had a similar experience today over 5k and felt I had cheated afterwards as a result of the βbreathersβ. But 10k! Blimey thatβs a long way Bud. Well done for keeping going after your speedy start. No one but you cares if you had to take a breather. Maybe think of it as interval/pace training rather than your easy run? 10k! π
