Sorry I don't know... I'd Just stop talking to it if it can't be positive! 😂

The way is which productivity is calculated takes in various factors, some of which, like vo2max can be affected by cold weather

Here's what Garmin says support.garmin.com/en-GB/?f...

I've learnt to pretty much ignore that feature as it is often wrong.

I like Deals1 reply... if it can't say anything nice... ignore it 👍🏻🤣

It makes no sense really, so just ignore it like most people 👍🏻

I’ve got no idea. No such thing in my book Uke5.

No such thing. My Garmin doesn’t ever use that term? The most it will say is a particular run has not impacted on my aerobic fitness. To which I say fine, that wasn’t why I did that run in the first place, I know to run faster if it’s for aerobic purposes but I also know you shouldn’t run that fast every time.

Will see if I can change the settings 😄

I must be the only one who finds the analytics on Garmin quite useful. You do need to set it up though. It needs resting heart rate (when awake). That's easy because the watch will show it. It also needs a better maximum heart rate than the assumed one. By definition this is going to be equal to or higher than you have ever recorded. The best way to find this is warm up then do some hill repeats making the last one a max effort.

Unproductive means you put the work in but didn't get fitter. It's a sign of overtraining. Could be a but under the weather health-wise, running in the cold as JoJo suggested; or just plain overtraining, not enough rest since the last session. It's a cumulative thing so should even out. Look for trends rather than individual runs.

As everyone else says, ignore Garmin. You did a run and that is much more productive than not doing a run.

I have the same moan about Strava: 'This run was easier than your usual effort'. Sod off and save the damn numbers computer! I'll do the motivation thanks!

The tech thinks everything is about performance, but for many of us it's just about endurance. Or, dare I say it? Enjoyment.

in reply to theoldfellow

I'm just pleased I can run, never mind how slow I am. Never going to be fast, but a silver runner that's me.

Keeps the old bones healthy.🥴🤣😊

The more bells and whistles you have on a sports watch the more likely it is for the watch to become a smart watch , as in a smart ass watch. Go into Garmin Connect and disable all the features required by an Olympic athlete. I’ve a Garmin 35 which isn’t too smart to start with, and I have disabled everything other than average pace, distance and time. Even heart rate and heart rate zones are nonsense so I don’t pay any attention to that data either. That’s all I care about. Every run is a productive run.

Because it's bloody rude, that's why...you went out and ran, how can that possibly be unproductive! Tell your Garmin from me, if it can't say anything nice then not to say anything at all 👍

in reply to Run46

Will do 🤣
