Garmin woes

Hello lovely running fiends,

I have had my lovely Garmin forerunner since July this year, and it has worked without a hitch. Until today. For some reason, it is only logging my heart rate on the dashboard (on the app), and not updating anything else – not my steps nor my activities? Anyone else having this issue? I have just updated my iPhone to the latest operating system (but the issue started before that, i thought updating might fix it).

Sorry for the boring post – but just hoping someone might have a suggestion!

I haven't got a Garmin yet, but hoping for one from Father Christmas So really there's no point me writing anything, other than just giving you some sympathy. You are my very best running buddy, after all!

Hang on... I work in IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again?? *ducks*

Yesterday I called garmin uk support. A lovely young man sorted me out very quickly. He was friendly, listened carefully, tried something out then talked me through the solution. If I'm being totally honest I should own up to 'operator error', but lovely young mr Garmin was far too nice to even mention that! Give them a call. Freephone number and I got straight through 🙂

That's a very good idea, thanks Linda, I will call them! I can still see my activities in the calendar, so everything is syncing – just don't know why all of a sudden they have stopped appearing on the dashboard, so random! xxx

i had same issue few weeks ago, just turned watch off and back on again the it's worked fine, so far so good

Oooh it’s frustrating stuff isn’t it. It frustrates me more cos I don’t know enough about the darned thing to have a stab at sorting it If all else has kicked out then it's the Garmin help peeps

Thanks misswobble. I get cross cos I know I have not touched anything to cause this. WHY CAN THINGS NOT JUST WORK (said in wailing voice). I will ring the lovely folks at Garmo. xxx

Tech things, espesh those reliant on electronics and strange ethereal going’s-on, can be expected to go off on one from time to time. I am defective on a regular basis ☺️

I’m having the same problem with mine! I noticed this morning it didn’t record my sleep . Then I went for a run and it recorded ok on the watch but isn’t showing on the dashboard. It went onto Strava ok! Did you manage to sort yours out? 😀

Oh no, not yours too, Sara! My experience is exactly as yours – I woke up this morning and saw that it had failed to record my sleep, and then later, my steps. Have not sorted yet – at work, and had Pilates class at lunch so no time to call up the nice Garmin people. May have to wait until tomorrow now.

I can see my run when I go into activities and select running and my sleep is there too! ( Not much of it !!!!) it’s just not showing on my wall thing!! I also noticed when I clicked on the Garmin watch circle top right of wall there is a software update slowly happening but it seems a bit stuck!! You can tell I’m not very technical!! These wee things are so frustrating! I did a software update on my iPhone 6s a few days ago but it’s only today I’ve noticed the problem! I’ll see if it works ok tomorrow!! 😀

Me too - exactly the same! My phone app has recorded my steps but not my run today. But I can see the details of my run on my Forerunner watch. I did a software update on my iPhone yesterday, so wonder if it's anything to do with that? I'm not very technical either - just tried turning my watch off and on again - makes absolutely no difference, unfortunately. All very odd!

Just looked again and the run and sleep activity now showing where they normally are! The software update still hasn’t completed but fingers crossed it’s just fixed itself!!

My android Garmin app has been acting normally after my run today, could it maybe be related to the Apple Health app again? Hidden had some bother recently—are you able to swoop in and lend assistance Flick? 😀 Maybe it's a different issue, but worth a look.

Mines been fine except sluggish syncing. Resetting the watch usually helps 😊

Well, I haven't reset the watch, as I don't think it is a watch or a sync issue – i can see my steps and sleep in Garmin Connect, if I go to the calendar there. It is just not popping up on my dashboard on the app. I can see everything on the dashboard on the website. So…I am deducing it is an app error…meh. I think I am just going to forget about it and see if they fix the app. Thanks for replying! x

Mine had a day when it went bananas.. after a good night's sleep it was fine again..

Give Garmin a ring.. they may be helpful
