I had to give up my planned afternoon tea with my mother to cover a long shift because someone took it off due to a COLD SORE!!!!!
(Is it just me, or is that royally taking the proverbial?)
I know they are sore, and don't look great, I get them myself, but I would never dream of taking time off with one.
Back to the point of post...I decided that those Boots Advantage Points had gathered enough dust, plus there was Β£40.00 off, so I have bought this.
I know, it's not a Garmin, they are just too big for me. It's a Fitbit Versa 2, and it should at least show me some reasonable data.( also stores music if I care to cough up for spotify premium!)
I got it yesterday, what do I know so far? My resting heart rate is 48, and on my run this morning I maxed out at 157, but probably did too much of the run at peak effort.
I was a bit offended when it told me that my cardiac score is 34, and that is excellent for a woman my age!!!
What's it trying to say?π€―
But it's pretty isn't it ππ€

Lovely watch Jell, the fun you are going to have with all your stats. I eventually turned my move alerts off, it became far too bossy and intrusive! π
Yes the watch seems to be working now. Went out running today , came back and it uploaded no problem. Just annoyed because it was a route I had never ran before , I like to see the map thing. I'm a garmin geekπ€£
To be perfectly honest I was sceptical about this, but I compared it to my O2 sats and HR monitor at work, and even there it was 53, so sleeping HR it's probably correct. I remember having anesthetics on two occasions and although not out for long I had to have a long stint in the recovery room and they had to monitor me closely.
Maybe I hibernate!!!!
Should I be worried? Well probably not, I've clearly been this way for a long time π.
Are you a kiss-a-gram? Because I would have thought a cold sore to be an acceptable excuse for a sick day if you were! π
As for the watch. Very nice. I'm still dreaming of a Garmin, but it's nice to see someone advocating for a different brand. I was beginning to think HU was sponsored by Garmin π€£π€£
Cold sores are highly infectious Jell and so I think the person was being very responsible taking time off. I think you work in the medical world and so itβs even more important not to risk a spread in this environment.
As a sufferer I know how painful and energy-sapping they can be. Your immune system is bu**ered and so you feel really sh*t. Iβve had to cancel all sorts of things when I was younger because of them. I took them badly and once had one that made my mouth swell up so much I could see my lips when I looked down! Not good. My husband takes them and his is a little spot that disappears in a few days. Mine flares up like a mountain and lasts at least a week and is so painful I canβt even drink tea. There are different types and perhaps this person has the bad type.
Hopefully this will make you feel less upset about your cancelled afternoon tea with your mum. Afraid to say my sympathies are with the poor cold sore sufferer βΉοΈ
But I like your Fitbit and hope it does what it says on the tin πββοΈπ
No, I ran it by infection control consultant, there is no indication to remain off, I understand that there are degrees of severity, but it appears not to have stopped her from going out the night before, for coldsore read hangover, her Facebook page will be part of her return to work interview.
Re yours, I asked my GP for oral acyclovir, as I get them inside my nose as well, and you cannot apply topical creams there. I have it on repeat prescription, so it might be worth you asking as you feel so unwell. I take them as soon as I feel the start and for 3 days. Even if I don't completely stop them they are less, and go faster .
Thank goodness as Iβve got older I rarely get them now but thanks for the tip. Iβll pass it on to my mum though who had them so badly she underwent a serious of injections but they didnβt work either. They are truly horrible.
But given what you say about your colleague then shame on her. Canβt believe she was so stupid to post a photo on Facebook from the night before π
Well it was Β£40.00 off, but still a good deal given the payment method, I've managed without one for a couple of years but thought I might as wellπ
Thatβs the challenge, mine was driving me mad when my daughter who knows about these things mentioned that my oxygen levels were low and as i was breathless i went to the doc and before i knew it was on oxygen in an ambulance
My average resting heart rate is 51 and a heart monitor showed that it can drop below 50 when I am asleep. I treat it as good news despite my advanced years. If it is bad news I donβt want to know π
Love my Fitbit....really helped spur me on to move at the start and not I just love the stats. Your heart rate is amazing.....mine is low 60s but before I found a love of running it was high 70s!
Will tell you your pace too and it automatically detects when you are running. Have fun x
Glad you like yours, and what an improvement in your HR,πͺI have no idea what mine was pre running!
It looks a great watch Jell! Very pretty! And itβs even better when you havenβt paid for it so to speak π€£π€£. I think 36 cardio is nothing to be sniffed at well done you.ππ
Well done you! Spring is just around the corner so lighter mornings and evenings to look forward to.π
Iβm running on my treadmill this morning and Sunday ( being my last run of the week) Iβll be outside as the weather is set to be beautifully frosty ,sunny and brightπ€
Have a great weekend and happy runningπββοΈπ€π€
