A few weeks ago I volunteered to lead a beginner session on a Monday night. New people to Canicross are always in need of help, even if they are seasoned runners, but this year we have had a number of people who are total novices to running itself come onto the Facebook group and ask if there are any runs suitable for them to join.
Last week I went from having 4 people on the ‘going’ list to 1 actually turning up. We had a lovely run - a Week 4 run of the NHS plan with a couple of extra runs and walks to get us back to the cars.
Last night I had no one, I think the filthy weather put them off.
I’m not particularly bothered, as Sunday has turned into my long run day so using Monday evening as a recovery Run is perfect. In fact I think my biggest fear is that one Monday night about a dozen of them will turn up unexpectedly 🤣🤣🤣

That’s an excellent scheme Maddee; well done you. Running with dogs is getting very popular and training is needed for everyone’s safety. Especially when the dogs are a lead attached to your waist.
At parkrun on Saturday I was almost tripped by a dog attached to the waist of a runner who was also pushing a buggy - totally against parkrun rules. In trying to get her dog away from me , she then pushed her buggy into others. I’m hoping our directors will stop this practice now as it’s not the first time.
It’s great that you have your own races available now.
There's a few runners that have been a bit cheeky and no-one has said anything . But now I have officially raised it, I think they will have to bring the rules to their attention. There was also a child on a scooter, which is another no-no.
not only is it great exercice but really benefits dogs too.
i am a bit horrified to see dogs running off collars at pr,i feel the owners just do not realise the damage that can be done and would use correct kit if they did.x
