Apple vs Garmin

I’ve had my 235 for quite a while now, all good. But I fancy treating myself to something nice new and shiny. I was looking at the Apple Watch 5. Any good?

People say it's a lump you can really feel on your wrist. But then I hate wearing a watch. My 235 is the first watch I've ever bought, and I can tolerate wearing it because it's so light I forget I'm wearing it.

I've also heard that even the latest one, the battery life does not compare to the Garmin. I charge my Garmin once a week.

If Apple make one with accurate real time blood pressure monitoring I'll buy one, but otherwise, no plans to get one.

No! My Apple Watch is so inaccurate and the battery life is dire. You also have to charge overnight every night! I changed to a garmin 35! I only use my Apple Watch for music now. I’ve turned off the heart rate monitor and the phone aspect of it. It’s just an extortionately expensive MP3 player these days. If you want something jazzy, look at the Fenix maybe?

I’ve personally not had any problems with the accuracy of my Apple Watch. Even stopped using the polar strap now because the results were the same. I have a cellular watch which avoids the need of going out with a phone (can make emergency call/txt if needed) Really enjoying listening to podcasts now this has been added to the watch software.

Found it works well with the Polar & Strava app also using the HealthFit app and just started using HRV4 app (both on iPhone) which play nice with watch data.

You’ll find the Apple & Marmite question and answers similar 😂

I’ve been really impressed with my I watch (series 3) accurate, heart rate, Bluetooth music, Strava and the health app. Admittedly having an iPhone and syncing really well gives it extra points 🤩
