Week 3 ✅ Frosty Parkrun

It was my coldest ever run this morning, my car said it was -1°C. Bedgebury Pinetum looked so beautiful, all frosty and sparkling in the sunshine. I was very grateful for my new running jacket (my treat for Week 2) with its thumbholes to keep my hands from freezing. Off we set at 9am on the dot. I think I am starting to feel the benefits of doing the longer runs because the tough uphill start didn't seem to go on forever today. I didn't find it quite as tough as I usually do, yay! Mapmyrun behaved itself today but I forgot to switch it off at the end so not sure of my time. I'm guessing just under the 40 minute mark, perhaps a little quicker than last week. For the last half, I was behind a lady and decided to make sure that I kept up with her. I managed to keep her in my sights and overtook her with a last minute sprint to the finish line! I thanked her for being my pacer as we got our barcodes scanned. So, Week 3 done and feeling really positive. I've run further than I ever thought I could, the sun is shining and it's the weekend, happy running everyone! ☺ 👟 🎉

It does look beautiful when it's all frosty. I agree with you about the longer runs helping the shorter ones and it's helping you at parkrun. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🤗🤗

Who'd have thought 5k would feel like a shorter run?! 🤣

Official time was 39:19 so I guessed right. Last week was 39:56 but this week felt easier! Very happy. 😊

Well done on going out this morning at all. And you knocked 40s off against last week.

What challenge is it you are doing? Week 3 of what? Just curious.

It's Ju-ju's Magic 10k Plan but I got a bit carried away on Wednesday and ran 10km instead of the planned 7km run.

I see. That's a good way of altering from a program. But they say keep to the plan so that you don't fatigue or injury. Keep running!

Congratulations on completing your run today, that wasn't fair of you overtaking that lady that you used as a pacer😂

I sacrificed a PB at my 12th parkrun today, what happened was that I was overtaken by a runner who was 'attached' to a visually impaired runner at around 3 kilometers, I quickened my pace slightly and kept about 2 seconds behind both of them until the finishing line, I thought that I could have overtaken them in the last 20 metres but I DIDN'T think that would have been fair to do, my PB is 30.55, this morning it was 30.56, the visually impaired running time was 30.55, so IF I had overtaken them in the last 20 metres my time would have been 30.54 which would have been a PB. 😊 🏃🏾

Aw, that's a noble sacrifice AlMorr. ☺ I did feel a bit guilty running past her, after she'd unknowingly helped me round! She was only 3 seconds behind me so maybe being overtaken made her speed up too at the end?! 🤣 Well done on another Parkrun, we're both getting closer to the milestone t-shirt. Great time too. I am raring to beat my pb, think it will take a few more weeks to get there.

I do think if you can pace with other runners who are running just a little faster than you, you will get a quicker time than running on your own. 😊 🏃🏾 It's a fine balancing act, ha. 😊
