Today, I ran on a treadmill. It was awful, so boring, so difficult to judge pace, so hot, no air, nothing to look at. No I will not do that again. Perhaps I should quote wind in the willows. “ the open road, boop boop!”
However I did then go and get fitted for some new shoes. Not a day of a complete fail.

Boring without doubt 🙁, but the thing I do like about the dreadmill is that I can set it at precisely the pace I want, which is good if you’re trying to achieve something specific. So I don’t understand the comment about pace judgment?
I don’t have a fancy watch that tells me my pace, so I know I can run a 5 k in 38.43 . But I started off too slow on the treadmill, then I was so board, I ran for 30 mins and was way off my normal pace, only doing 3.5 k. It just wasn’t for me. There wasn’t even a tv to watch. I then went and did a bit of boxing which was far more fun!
Boring for sure... and obviously no eye candy in there today!
I used to hate it and half get your pace comment, I was back and forth on the running bed a lot as it’s so unnatural for me to press a button to change pace. I wouldn’t do it every run, but I have managed to get to 90 minutes on one now and run in the gym once a week. You didn’t fail... you went and tried something and didn’t like it... that’s learning and learning is progress!
New shoes is always good... enjoy testing those out next run.
Oh I know exactly how you feel Rogie. The heat ..... 🥵 😩 I joined a gym last winter and I’ve used it approximately 10 times in one year, if that. I have the membership in place “just in case” 😅
But yay for your new shoes! Hope you enjoy lots of lovely outdoor runs in them. 👍😀
Huh, thanks for doing that, it's exactly what I image a treadmill to be like after months of outdoor running. Think of all the gym money we save - and you've found the way to spend it - new shoes, perfect. Happy running
