Hi everyone. Looking to buy a garmin/Fitbit sort of watch for tracking my runs. Don’t want anything too complicated though! What do people think would be suitable? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Lots of people love their Garmins - mine is a mid range one, the Forerunner 235, which I got for a good price in last year’s Black Friday sale on Amazon. It does more than I use it for. 😀

Also good value are the Forerunner 35 watches which lots of people on here have and swear by.

There are other more sophisticated Garmins too, so I guess it depends on personal preference, and your budget. They’re all good. 😀

A few months back I bought a garmin forerunner 35 gives you pace , heart rate, steps, a map of where you ran and loads more. It wasn't to complicated and if you get stuck there are loads of online videos to help 😊

I went for the Garmin 35 too. Does everything I need and the connect app links up well with my iPhone. The attraction for me was lowest price with its own GPS. May be other options now though.

I've tried Fitbit, polar and Garmin, and decided to go for Garmin, they do everything you need, just need to decide what metrics are important to you and then select the right model. Garmin released this year a forerunner 45, 245 , 645 and 945, so the older versions (35, 235, 935) can be found a bit cheaper... If you are happy to wait a bit, I'm pretty sure they will be good offers for black Friday

I got a garmin 45s as it is not as large as the normal one and it does everything i need it to do and more :)

Thank you too everyone that replied. I’ll probably go for garmin forerunner 35 as this appears to do the job. But will spend tomorrow doing my research. Thanks you lovely people xx

Hey Reggie! A few of us are looking at running watches on here. My friend @KevTrev pointed out BlackFriday will be a good time to check out offers especially as many Garmins are expected to reduce in price, failing that the Boxing Day sales.

I would recommend a Garmin, many people swear by them and nearly everyone in Kev’s running club has one. I was looking at the Garmin forerunner 45 a few days ago and now I’m looking at the Garmin 245. I’m going to buy from Argos most probably.

Definitely a Garmin that’s what I’m getting the forerunner 235 but wait a bit till Black Friday as you can save some money one of the girls in my running club last year saved £60.00 on her Garmin so well worth the wait 😉👍

My husband gifted me an Iwatch for my birthday. As series 5 was coming out he picked up a series 3 for a great price.

Does everything I want and more. Bluetooth music, tracks runs on Strava, heart rate, and syncs with my phone. Very pleased with it.

Pretty sure I’ll go with a Garmin

Can you get the C25K app on Apple Watch? Is there a list of available apps somewhere? I’m quite tempted by a series 3, but would like to know a bit more about it...

Not sure about the app, but will run the podcast version. I have AirPods so Bluetooth.

I like that it has Nike run app. I also like the daily close rings challenge (1 active move calories 2. Exercise minutes 3 stand time.) I’ve had a few other smart watches and struggled to sync health data etc. All good so far but only purchased in September xx

Thanks, that’s helpful. Can you store and play music on it? Not keen on getting the cellular version... what’s the storage capacity?

I’m sure there is a way but I tend to have my phone on me and everything that is in my phone works on watch, even calls etc. I just like the fact I don’t have wires, don’t have to get my phone out of its place at all during any activity.

I just saw your post. I have had the Garmin Forerunner 35 for one week, after asking for advice on this forum. It is brilliant, I’m delighted with it. Really simple to use but has loads of features. Having said I would only wear it for running, I’m wearing it all the time!

I love my Garmin... however can't say the same for customer support... 1st one needed replacing due to a fault. Had another issue with current one and now its broken completely so having to go back, hopefully they'll replace on warranty however I'm not too confident and I don't expect them to be quick either 🙈

Another Garmin vote. I have the vivoactive 3 (without music but can control my phone's music app via Bluetooth). It's just been replaced by the vivoactive 4 so with black Friday just around the corner, you may be able to pick one up with a good deal as retailers try to get rid of their stock.

Important consideration is whether you want in built GPS. Some trackers use your phone GPS capability. I bought a garmin vivo sport as I wanted in built GPS in a compact, waterproof device.

Garmin Forerunner 35. Has in-built GPS.

Bought a garmin a few years ago and I have to say I wasn't that impressed. Seemed to take forever to find a satellite. I'd imagine that has improved but I've since moved on and have a Samsung active watch.

Does everything I need it to do including mapping my run, heartbeat and music storage
