I thought I was a couple of minutes slower than last time until I dug through my memories box ....... now how annoying is that! π€ͺ
No chips in 1997 though, so that is gun time, my running time might have been 30 secs or so less. And you'll see the bling's changed a bit, not least the ribbon. Though they only gave away 4306 medals that day ππ½ββοΈπββοΈ.
Also, please note the 1997βs womenβs race was won by Liz McGolgan in a Scottish record, yesterdayβs by Ailish, ditto, so I won't be doing this again until Ailishβs daughter is up to speed .
Onwards and upwards, shorter and (maybe) faster.

The t-shirts have definitely changed in 22 years. I wouldnβt like to run in the old one. I think 10 seconds slower after 22 years is something to be proud of you lean, mean, running machine.
10 seconds?! Wow. Ok, this would be pretty difficult to do without digging through record progression and doing some maths... but Iβm thinking your age grading has gone up significantly!
To be fair (though it spoils the story) I had run the distance sub-80 in solo training that year, but did the race itself with my usual training partner (long before Dexy5 came into my life) who eventually beat me by 2 places and 1 second, before accusing me of making her run too fast at the finish
Got up this morning and noticed that I had recorded the Stanley game... only watched the first half, something told be there would be no goals in the second half π€£
Tech changes and ribbons change, but luckily your body clock doesnβt seem to be taking any significant notice. Well done you! ππΌπππΌπππ»ββοΈπ
Congratulations UTS on yesterday's time and run, who knows by the time Ailish's daughter or son runs it you will be celebrating your ?th Great South Run. ππΎ π
