Sprained ankle woes

Hello, there I was last Thursday just 2 runs away from Graduating from Ju Ju's Magic Plan and I managed to sprain my ankle - and not even whilst running, but walking. It's almost been a week and I haven't been able to run yet. Should I even try to gingerly run this week or leave it another? Missing running so much!!

Sorry about your sprained ankle, you must not run until its completely heals, otherwise it could get worse.

What a shame Twigmango, so near yet so far. 😩

If it’s still painful it’s definitely advisable not to run on it. You’ll just aggravate the sprain and it’ll take even longer to heal. , Rest, ice and elevation are your friends, as is patience, although it’s hard when you’re dying to get back running.

Take care of it, and in time you’ll be back out there. 😀

Thanks AlMorr and cheekychipmunks . As advised I shall wait and be patient - grrr!

I too am benched with a sprained ankle. It's annoying. I posted a couple of weeks ago and got some brilliant advice- so maybe have a look at that. I am not running until I am completely pain and swelling free.

oh no, so sorry! I think it's never running though... I hurt my ankle a bit again stepping off the tube 2 days ago. definitely dont run on it for quite a few weeks. As Cheeky says but I would also say that when it's a bit better go to a sports physio so that they can give you strengthening exercises. If you go back before it's healed you risk aggravation. It's hard but use the time to work on strength. I am a fellow companion on the ankle IC!!

Oh dear. 😮😟 So sad for you. We all hate that IC! Reading this thread, I feel as if the Sprained Ankle Club is recruiting new members at an alarming rate. The rest of us should take note and do a few strengthening activities before we get that emergency feeling. 🙄🤔 Get well soon!

Thanks Hidden . Have read that advice and was super helpful! Couchpotato2 it is so annoying when it wasn't even due to running! Granspeed thank you for your kind wishes! Today it has been one week and I do feel the ankle is getting much better even if the rest of me isn't thankful for the lack of running..

Once it stops hurting, maybe have a look at OldFloss’ posts on Strength & Flex forum. She’s doing a series on strengthening body parts, starting with feet & ankles. 👍👏🏼

I did the same, sprained my ankle whilst walking in June 2018 and also chipped the outer ankle bone (6 weeks in a boot and on elbow crutches and then another 6 weeks rehab). So for goodness sake rest up and don’t make it worse. I found gently rotating it and flexing and stretching my ankle stopped me seizing up and it’s amazing how quickly you catch back up once you are fit again

Good luck
