Well, it’s Sunday (nice for lie in’s ☺️), but I’ve got a date with autumn 🥰.
It’s pouring down with rain outside! 🌧 🌧 🌧! Nevertheless, I tell myself it’s going to be a new experience. There’s no doubt I’m coming home soaking from head to toe, but I tell myself I can do it. Will it be 30 minutes? 😳 maybe not.
I get my kit on, put the mat by the door, so I’m not plodding my soaking trainers across the floor, for further cleaning up later (I’m getting smart 🤓) and out I go.
It was nice and quiet out there. I saw a fellow runner on the other side of the road, absolutely soaked and was glad I had my waterproof jacket on. 🤓🤓🤓! Though he didn’t seem bothered 🤩.
Today I found it easier and I found my flow, only to lose it when I came across massive puddles that there was no way of avoiding, so....in a go!! 🏃🏽♀️ 🏃🏽♀️ 🏃🏽♀️ The hopping didn’t do anything but make me even wetter, so I learned not to carrying on trying that little tactic! 😊
At one point I suddenly realised that I could hear myself breathing 👂🏼 and then it dawned on me that my app had paused 😯. I wasn’t sure how long it was paused and I wanted to make sure that I could see my progress, so I resumed and carried on with a little detour to get the time on record. These things happen. And I ended up back at my door having recorded just over 31 minutes and as expected, soaking wet 😂, but undefeated!
Happy running Runners! ❤️

I don't understand running in rain jackets. In my experience they're soaked within about 10 minutes and then the rest of the time it's like running in clingfilm 😂.
You can only get so wet in your normal kit and then it doesn't get any worse - did
notice I was literally steaming during my post run stretches today though 😂.
Thanks DebJogsOn!!🤗 I wasn’t brave enough to leave mine ☺️. The hood was up too 😂. It was pretty chilly today, so maybe that’s why I didn’t get the cling film feeling this time. 😁❤️
Thanks Ang!! 🤗 Well you know I’m not too far from there and it was hammering it down here too! 😂! I’m glad I went though. I figured that if I can do it today, there’s less chance of lesser rain putting me off. 😉❤️
Ah well done! I rain in the rain earlier this year and I remember hating it but now I feel it’s important to try running in all conditions, it’s only then you realise how you cope and learn what you can do different for the next time.
Thanks so much JaoJao!! 🤗 Totally agree! I’ve let the weather decide whether I run before. I’m not likely to be blessed with my perfect conditions now, so out I go! 😂 I’ll get used to it! 🤞🏽❤️
Very well done. I’ve been caught out a few times and ended up running in the rain whilst mid run. Often in a very heavy shower. It’s character building.
You’re brilliantly determined! 👏🏼 I don’t mind drizzle, & I don’t much mind actual running in the rain. But setting off into it ? 😱 I haven’t discovered a way to warm up effectively enough to leave the house running - it’s always a 5 minute walk. And I find that just long enough in pouring rain to decide to turn back. 😟 So well done you. I will try to cultivate grit by thinking of you..... 🤔😊
Aah thank you Granspeed! 🤗 I agree, setting off is the hard part. I don’t do a warm up walk ☺️, but I do start with a very slow jog 🐌 and pick up the pace as I get settled in. The app I have guides that way to be fair. You even stop and then stretch on some runs too. Which can feel a little strange, but I just go with it. 😂😁❤️
Nike Run Club App! I like the variety of guided runs they offer. They’re very aptly naked too. There’s even a “don’t wanna run”, run and I’ve done that one in the past! 😂🤫❤️
Yey, well done Fab, theres nothing wrong with a good soaking, sometimes it feels so liberating, like it washes away your troubles?!! You're getting back into it big time and I think you're having a great time xxx
Thanks so much Mummycav!!🤗 I can honestly say that the whole day seems better on the ones when I run!! And that is definitely keeping me going out! 😁❤️
👋🏽Thanks BDP!! 🤗! It was better than I had expected and because I had a chat with the rain when I started off to let it know it’s not going to put me off today. And that’s the truth! 😳❤️
Hand that woman a towel. Well done some times it just has to be done. I dodge puddles at the start of a run but once you have soggy socks might just as well plough through.
Thanks so much Runningroni! 🤗 I totally agree. I gave up trying to use some technique to skip over them or hop through them. The week were already wet and it wasn’t going to make any difference. I couldn’t avoid them. 😂❤️
Good for you Fab! I set off in the rain in my waterproof jacket with hood up as well. Thankfully the rain eased up during my run so hood came off and unzipped, as I was getting too warm, but I still felt I needed it at the beginning. More rainy runs to come I suspect 🌧
I've just worked out my park run was 5.9k cos I ran round the puddles, on Strava it's all zigzags! Didn't realise you're supposed to run thru them 😂 I didn't want to get my expensive trainers muddy.
😂 Well done you! 🤩! There was no running around these Fleetnot! I headed for the grassy parts and found that the water was just disguised by the grass! 🤣! So my trainers didn’t stand a chance! ❤️
