A tad late today... small runner in training day, here... full work out!
How is it all going with everyone... are we sticking to our goals? Are we keeping focused and determined???
I am running.. three times a week..but my runs are not getting much longer... I seen to be struggling to find the time to run them! But I will keep trying! And I shall keep having fun! Strength work is fine and a long day's gardening, moving shrubs and cutting and pruning counted as a really good workout!
We are having some really mixed weather... rain, sunshine and a bit of everything in between!
But some of the runs you folk have been having, even with all the changeable weather ... well the word is simply, amazing!
So wherever we run, I hope we are all able to enjoy the change of season:}
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
We ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and we wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
The Quest is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!
Happy running and whenever and wherever, your running trail takes you, may it be in a blaze of glory

I managed to run all of my first 10k event which was one of my goals from last week, in 1hour 32 (chip time) which I am reasonably happy with (would have liked 1hour 25 but that was a nice to have not a goal)
run 3-4 times a week, which was a complete failure last week - between commutes and dog with diarrhea (the one who vomited the week before after eating a mattress) and the same dog ripping his dew claw and blood everywhere (different day of course), and yesterday my daughter having a fever, time has been very difficult to find. Plus Saturday morning when I usually squeeze a run in was taken up going to pick up my bib number (they don't post it, I had to go and get it).
So this week, a new resolution to be more structured about the whole thing. Go back to set days for running instead of trying to fit them in
1 interval training session
1 hill/trail session
1 long run for my HM training
If I can fit in a 4th easy 5K to add more kms in I will do it, but that will be an optional extra (most of the HM plans I've found have 4 days a week running, but that is not always easy for me to do time-wise)
My calf raises are still being done, while waiting for trains, cooking, washing up, and I do feel it is making a difference to my feet, ankles and my calves
Blimey! You are obviously very dedicated. We had an OldEnglish that had a stroke & we thought that was it, but with medication she went on for years after. They definitely pull at the heart strings 😳
my dogs are ex racing greyhounds, and I think they pump them full of shit / steroids etc. and for some it's just too much
She can walk, run ( a bit uncoordinated but improving), still has problems with stairs (she only learnt stairs when I got them though as they didn't learn it as racing dogs, so there's not much muscle memory there)
She is still house trained and loving - it's a no brainer to keep her. Took a few months and is still improving but apart from the relatively brief period where we couldn't leave her alone, most stuff is back to normal lol
The other dog is just mad, eats stuff he shouldn't - they had never lived in a house before, just like big overgrown puppies, no "social" skills never having lived with people instead of in kennels
I feel your pain "eats stuff...." Our dog decided to eat a whole box of concord grapes one day off our counter. Talk about vet bills!!! Meds to make him vomit, charcoal tabs or whatever... overnight stay at vet.... Yikes! Can't leave ANYthing out--even an old bread bag!
As a shiny new graduate, I’m in for the first time 😀 And just aiming to keep the 3 runs a week going.
So far I’ve done one post graduation run, which I found quite tough to be honest. I did stupidly pick a route which was rather hillier than I’d expected 😮😬 Roll on run 2 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Hello Oldfloss. Running took second place to family events oop north last week so I only managed 6k for my long run . But I ran parkrun within 14 seconds of my PB and a 30 minute run in the rain yesterday . So tomorrow I’m hoping to do a long , slow 11 or 12k in prep for GSR. We are hoping to join cheekychipmunks and damienair and son at Bristol Parkrun.
Then a week of tapering Before joining 19,999 others for 10 miles. Eek 😬
Life does upend things...but in a great way sometimes! Trying to get the longer runs in, I know, can be tricky! Sounds as if all is going well..10 miles is one of my favourite distances..just enough!
The good news is my ankle is no longer painful, just stiff. Now my physio has moved me on to balancing and strengthening exercises, and I'm allowed to walk more as long as it's flat. No running yet.
I miss running🙄... but am enjoy reading everyone's run reports and adventures.
My goals are to do some weightlifting. I promised this on another post in the past and failed to get started. This month I promise to try again, although I am exhausted from running today, cleaning cat boxes, cleaning the kitchen, cooking, and shopping. I will try!
Well, I notice my arm muscles are atrophying since I have had to do more caregiving. I'm working household duties more, but it's more walking around than "lifting," etc. I don't want the skin on my upper arms to sag! Must do weightlifting....
Hi all...im comitting to running more days and upping my mikeage...ran 6 early mornings last week and got 23 miles in and have buikt up gradually to this distance.
Need to find some races to enter to put all this training to good use...no bling is disappointing in french races though..will have to collect t shirts or race numbers instead.
Someone on here got running gloves in a French race, which I thought was useful. You will have to make cardboard medal for each race so you can see how well you’ve done 😂
My quest is to keep up with my regular yoga, specifically core the “core ritual” and “butt and thighs” Yoga with Adriene videos. 💪 I’m also making it my goal to run out of my comfort zone more often. I can trot virtually effortlessly for hours, but I don’t enjoy puffing and panting. I realise I need to, to get quicker, so hopefully a stronger core and legs will help! Also I’ll be doing more intervals (yuk yuk). No pain, no gain. 😩
Talking of pain, tomorrow might have to be a gym session if this weather continues, as I’ll be pushed for time. Demon treadmill here I come. Oh the 🥵 😩
I’ve done lots of PR tourism lately, and this weekend it’ll be fun to meet up with some VRBs at my local, Eastville Park. 😀 Then the GSR on the 20th! Ooooo 👏👏👏👏👏
Such exciting times and goals too..I am putting some other exercises on Strength and Flex later...feet and ankles last week..calves and knees this week..!
My quest is to keep running 3 times a week, no matter what the weather! I have no excuse and to fit in a strength training session each week (between running son around for football training)
Today my Pilates classes start again so looking forward to that, my weekly treasure
I did my first parkrun on Saturday, too fast really but enjoyable. I gave my knee lots of TLC afterwards. I did a slow easy 5km yesterday and my knee is not happy today. So no more running for me this week. I’m going to do my rolling and icing and exercises and try to book a sports massage. Maybe I’ll be able to do parkrun on Saturday and maybe not. In any case, I’m resigned to going back to building up my distance again when I get off the IC. Because loathe though I am to admit it, that’s where I am 😖 hope you are all healthy and happy and not TOO busy
