Yes... here I am again. I get everywhere don't I? I have been lucky enough to be able to host this month's quest!
I know you had a great time on the September Quest and I am hoping that this one will get us all fired up too! I had a wonderful running September, with my Spitfire run on the 1st of the month and finishing with a glorious morning run by the Coast
Now, Autumn has crept in at the back door, it seems , and the darker mornings are upon us.
But... I , like many of us, love this time of the year; the colours, the sights, scents and sound, filling the senses as we run.
Hence the title for this Quest...the blaze is the blaze of colour, that only nature can produce, and that is only going to increase, as we move on towards the Solstice
Wherever we run, I hope we are all able to enjoy the change of season:}
I am going to be joining this one... making sure I keep on track with my running three times a week, and building my runs up as I go along. I also intend upping my strength and stamina work too.
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
We ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and we wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
The Quest is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!
Happy running and whenever and wherever, your running trail takes you, may it be in a blaze of glory

What a beautiful pic Oldfloss, I love autumn too and head into the New Forest or the countryside to kick leaves and collect sweet chestnuts.
October is all about the 10 mile Great South run on the 20th. So hopefully 3 runs a week for 2 weeks combining with exercises from physio to strengthen glutes. Taper one week. Then 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♂️
There are a few of us doing this so it will be a VRB meet up too. Afterwards I am going to relax and stick to a few short runs.
Hi all ,hopefully I can get out 3 times a week 😁 I like this time of the year not the rain though.off to the lake district the last week October so will finish my quest there .
October at the moment for me is about 3 times a week - a 3k, 5k and long run only up to 10k (post the double HM month!) with the aim of speeding up my 10 and 5k times - and hopefully setting 2 new PBs.
I might also through a 6-10 mile run in there somewhere because I just love long outdoor weekend runs and have gotten quite used to them!
Hi. Lovely pic. I must admit I always feel a bit down this time of year and hate the dark nights and mornings, however I'm going to try and embrace the change and enjoy it for what it is.
I'm watching the great Scottish run at the moment on the iplayer, inspiring! Just over 1 hour! First male. Wowsers
Anyways I'm aiming to increase distance to HM if I can. And do more (well actually not more but some!) Stengh work. Apart from pilates once a week I don't currently do a lot.(I know..... I know. )
Did pilates yesterday and have tight / crampy hamstrings and thighs today. SO I need to get working on this.
Plus I want to try and book some official stuff for future motivation. Anyways I'm rambling. Happy running 🏃
Hi Floss, I hope your October running is as brilliant as your September was!
Please may I join the Quest. I'm on the IC as you know and my goal this month is to follow the advice from my physio and work towards recovering. Maybe in a few weeks time I will be able to try a little joggette. Fingers crossed. 😊
Good luck to everyone Blazing your trails...what a lovely Quest title. 😊xx
Lovely to see you on the quest bluebird. Good luck with resting and recovering and maybe some gentle exercises from the physio. You’ll be back before you know it (in new shoes😉) xx
Thank you...glorious this morning. Following the advice will be good..and there are some super upper body exercise too.. I think someone put some links out.. I will try and find them x
Hi Oldfloss. My challenge this month is to strengthen my ankles ready for trail running. I also want to have a go at trail running this month but im going to have to drive a distance to get to a suitable area unless I can find some paths close to me on the os map. So if I can do two trail runs I will be happy. 🏃🏻♀️😊
Hills for me Oldfloss. I have had a series of pbs over 5 and 10k and increasing distance up to HM. Time to slow down a bit, tackle some proper hills and open new routes from home up onto the moors. I think I have the leg strength now; time will tell!
Morning Oldfloss , oooooo, I am a fan of Autumn but only since I started running, i was just a complete summer fan and only summer but my, how things change you when you find something wonderful that takes you out of the door in all weathers??? I would like to join the quest please and my aim is to get some strength training into my routine and also keep going at 3 runs a week with intervals thrown in.
I’m defiantly keeping up with my 3runs a week! Doing the Kielder 10k run next sat12th and will defiantly enjoy running through the beautiful woods at Kielder... as long as the midges keep away from me!!!! I’ve joined a gym and just spend 2 hours running rowing stepping and cycling! As well as weights! Feel super, so 10 k here I come!!!
Good comment! My daughter thought it would be “good” for me to go to the local gym, so she paid for a years membership as a gift. My face when she gave it to me! My husband said I should take up acting. Needless to say I would much rather be outside doing my slow trotting with faithful spaniel leading the way. Still I will definitely try to get some use out of it.
October, my birth month and my favourite month, let’s kick up the leaves with our Autumnal running!
That is a great gift... thoughtful and of course, the cross training you can do there will be brilliant..and if the weather does turn inclement. I use my indoor stuff when it is icy .
Brrrr!
What a thoughtful lovely daughter x
PS
Acting is also great... I was in local group for years.. x
After 6 months of using the Quest to work up for the Great South Run, my only target for October is to run the thing "well" on the 20th - what "well" means is very much in the hands of the wind and weather on the day, but if it's half-decent …… 90 minutes would be nice …...
Hello Oldfloss. I love Autumn too, particularly crisp, bright days when the red and gold leaves glow in the sunlight. My quest this month is to run for three times a week and to make one of those runs at least 5k. I’m going to try the C25K+ podcasts too because I miss Laura. Happy running everyone.
That all sounds great.... and doable goals... mixing the runs up with a 5K and maybe a lovely longer run too. The stamina C25K+Podcast is great for a longer run
