Just take all your runs slow and steady, are you a graduate of C25K? if so, do all your runs the way you ran them, drink plenty of water the day before you run, relax or do other exercises on non running days. 😊 🏃 Don't run too fast.

Yep I am graduate of C25K... Still finding hard lol... Don't worry I am doing little by little!!! Thank you!

Well done... almost at that 60 minute badge there! There’s a lot of runners at vastly different stages here... and I’m thinking that anyone knocking out an “easy 10k” has probably already ran around the 10 mile mark and/or is much more experienced over 10k than us. I used to think the same thing about an easy 5k... now I can do them! It’ll all come to you.

Happy running.

It is nice to hear these things. Sometimes we need to be reminding this. I am a newbie, graduated in August of C25K, and I still find hard as the first day 😂... Not easy this... But very rewarding thank God for that!

My long run is always a hard one... definitely reminiscent of C25K... when I get a recovery run half as long it’s almost too easy some days, but that the point of them I guess! You’re doing really well, you’ve gone from a tough 60 second run to a tough 3480 second run... I think that’s impressive progression!

Thank you. Not sure about impressive lol, but I try! ❤️

Well maybe you need to lower the bar and be impressed 🤪. You’re doing great.

You’re doing brilliantly 😃 Took me 3 months after I did my first 5k to go beyond it - a long consolidation!

I have run 10k but today was struggling at 3km...you can do it and you WILL get there. Slow and steady is always good...my first 10k took me 1hr 35 mins

in reply tobackintime

I'm not surprised, hell I can't do 5k under 30 minutes but I managed the other day 41 minutes, which I was chuffed to bits. How come you struggled at 3 K? But well done on getting done!!! 👍

It was just one of those runs. Legs felt heavy, I had the beginning of a cold, etc. Just a grind it out run.

in reply tobackintime

Oh yeah those runs... Get well soon!!!

Of course it is not easy before you have done it and practiced.

But does 3k sound easy or short now? Because you practiced. 🏃

in reply toElisabeth3

That's a very good point, 3k is to me nothing now!!! But back then I thought it was too long!!! Thank you!!!

😉 I learned this on this forum. And indeed, the longer you run, the easier the distances seem. You will smash that 10k.

You did well with that and it’s going to get easier. You have progressed a long way already and you’ll be bearing down on 10K before you know it.

in reply toStephen_UK

Well the thing about getting easier... 🤣 The problem is we are always pushing ourselves too much... 🤣 🤣 🤣 When I started C25K, 1 mile was a big thing for me, now it is easy and I run faster... 😂 😂 😂

It’s just proof that you are getting stronger. But don’t push it too much or you risk getting injured by overdoing it, as I have done in the past.

in reply toStephen_UK

That is true... I try to be sensible mostly because I have a scar on my calf my doctor said about being gentle... 😊 Thank you for your encouraging words! ❤️
