Out for a 5k pavement pounder after work today.πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ I posted recently about getting some Hoka Challenger ATR shoes (which take me from road to trail) and I really cannot praise them enough! I'm sure we are all on the hunt for those elusive shoes and I think for me (and my feet and my gait) I may have found them! Over the last few weeks I credit them with - the complete disappearance of minor foot aches and niggles (on getting up in the morning - especially after a long run), vast improvement of a very longstanding corn on the sole of my left foot (sorry tmi!) and a definate, steady improvement of my niggly knee (IT band related). Today I ran more freely than I have for ages and consequently ran the fastest 5k since way back before I damaged a nerve in my leg (almost 18 mths ago). I just feel as though my gait is more balanced in these shoes and the cushioning is fab! I do think that for many of us runners 'of a certain age' that the right footwear can make a real difference and needed to share! πŸ™‚

Good to hear that the new shoes are proving to be a great success for you Sandra. I’ve only had ITB issues since getting the GTS19s, so it does make you wonder. Although it may be linked more to increased distance.

For me - I know that the sciatica/ nerve damage changed my gait, even though it isn't obvious anymore. I used to wear supportive shoes but am happier in neutral now...go figure!πŸ™‚
