Nice place to run on a hot day.

I am lucky to have an old railway line with lots of tree cover nearby. Today was really hot, so the plan was a slow 5k (I targeted 7:30 per k) to loosen up after two runs where I had pushed the boundaries. I managed to keep it down to 7:29 with an average heart beat of 130bpm. It was a good loosener, quite enough in the heat, and, I feel, just as important as the longer/quicker runs. Thursday's longer run? Just see how I feel on the day. Looking back over the last 8 months, two injury lay offs requiring physio have been so valuable in providing a plan for strengthening weak areas. Famous last words, but I am not anticipating a breakdown every time I go out now....watch this space!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Such a pretty place to run. That shade looks lovely πŸ’•

It is Sask; it goes on like that for about 3.5 to 4k, so enough for a 7 to 8k round trip run. Makes a big difference in the heat if the day.

Lovely photo - looks just like my old railway line (well I guess, it would!πŸ˜‚) - a great place to find shade in this heat! Well done on your run and here's to staying injury- free.πŸ™‚

Thanks Sandraj. I am not sure Dr Beeching had runners in mind when he axed loads of local rail lines, but it's an ill wind I guess!😊

Hi Sandie. Really lucky to live here with all runner related outdoor needs met within a five minute walk from home (except for Park Run). Maybe time to explore the higher ground once it cools down and the adders go to sleep!

Oh, I don’t mind 4 or 5 degrees CC , it’s the heat which gets me.

Inviting shade :-)

That does look lovely Beachcomber66- so nice that you don’t have to go in the car to reach it too. Trees are great shade in this heat.

Well done you and good luck with staying injury free. Yes it looks just like my disused railway line in Harborne Birmingham but it can’t be since you’re obviously on the coast. Lucky you. I’ve been running on a treadmill since the heatwave - bring on the autumn weather πŸπŸ‚πŸ

I also have the advantage of being retired so I can choose my time to a large extent. Consolation for advancing years 😊

Is that the Cuckoo Trail? X

No, it’s the route of the old Guisborough to Middlesbrough railway.
