I am lucky to have an old railway line with lots of tree cover nearby. Today was really hot, so the plan was a slow 5k (I targeted 7:30 per k) to loosen up after two runs where I had pushed the boundaries. I managed to keep it down to 7:29 with an average heart beat of 130bpm. It was a good loosener, quite enough in the heat, and, I feel, just as important as the longer/quicker runs. Thursday's longer run? Just see how I feel on the day. Looking back over the last 8 months, two injury lay offs requiring physio have been so valuable in providing a plan for strengthening weak areas. Famous last words, but I am not anticipating a breakdown every time I go out now....watch this space!ππ
Nice place to run on a hot day.: I am lucky to... - Bridge to 10K
Nice place to run on a hot day.
Such a pretty place to run. That shade looks lovely π
Lovely photo - looks just like my old railway line (well I guess, it would!π) - a great place to find shade in this heat! Well done on your run and here's to staying injury- free.π
Looks lovely Beachcomber! A nice bit of shade
Oooo lovely route BC, makes me want to run it! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ Glad you got out today. Iβm doing a βcome on autumn weatherβ dance now! π ππ
Inviting shade
That does look lovely Beachcomber66- so nice that you donβt have to go in the car to reach it too. Trees are great shade in this heat.
It still gets sticky so well done on doing it anyway!

Well done you and good luck with staying injury free. Yes it looks just like my disused railway line in Harborne Birmingham but it canβt be since youβre obviously on the coast. Lucky you. Iβve been running on a treadmill since the heatwave - bring on the autumn weather πππ
I also have the advantage of being retired so I can choose my time to a large extent. Consolation for advancing years π
A perfect solution for a cool run BC!
Is that the Cuckoo Trail? X
No, itβs the route of the old Guisborough to Middlesbrough railway.
