Running helping hiking but does it work reverse?

I stopped hikes whilst doing C25K and to allow slight foot/injury time to heal. Today was a try out 11K non stop hike (110 mins) on Cannock Chase. No issues and without trying quicker and easier. Surprisingly so going uphill. From that I gather running is helping hiking. However does it work in reverse - will hiking help running?

I would say yes . Both of them involve your legs and lungs. So win win 😊😊

One of the reasons I started running was to keep fit for going up mountains. It definitely made a huge difference! I think hiking, especially up and down hills, will help running by improving leg strength and aerobic fitness. Being in the hills and mountains is wonderful 😊

Thank you. Now I'm running my intention for fitness is hike up and down hills. But also walking/ hiking wherever my feet takes me is pretty enjoyable.

For sure! It is a great cross training activity. I trail run on some really rugged terrain, so I get to do both at the same time....run when I can and hike all the crazy hills. Fun, fun, fun!

Thanks. I was going to ask if I needed a days rest after a hike before running but this morning decided to see how it goes. To play safe ish stuck to 5K rather than my max to date of 7K. Toxic time took longer to kick in but was shorter and also knocked half minute of my 5K time.
