Found it really hard and tempted to stop/walk a few times (but glad to say i didn’t). Does anyone else find it different/more difficult running at different times of the day? I normally run at 5 in the morning but didn’t get up early enough today so went out at 4:30 this afternoon. Thought I was running really slow until Strava confirmed my 5k time was 33:35...5 seconds outside my PB. Pleasantly surprised to say the least!!! Hopefully improve next time.

Hi, absolutely! Given the chance I would always run early morning. Straight out on an empty stomach although I’m always careful to make sure I’ve hydrated well the day before. People think I’m mad but there is something really lovely about being so early, it’s much cooler too. If I go on the evening it always feels like so much more of a slog. Well done on your time!

I'm a morning person too! Definitely not as comfortable or speedy any time after 11a.m.

Yep, most definitely... I’m an evening runner by nature and then last winter I was forced into before or after lunch runs and they were tough, I couldn’t wait for May! Mornings are still an issue for me, and I’m not looking forward to October, here we go again!

Of course some runs feel slow and aren’t, and some of them feel tougher because we are going faster than our perceived pace... which happened today for you by the looks of it.

Of course it could have been tougher just because you were running faster than you thought 😉

I hate morning running.. I don't function in the morning, I once put toothpaste on my razor blade, thank god I noticed in time. I've been told off by people including UpTheStanley for shouting INTERVALS! at you .. So no pressure Davo.. But I know you've just joined the Magic plan, and i'll be going into more detail about how these variations in exercises can help you.. So i'm looking forward to working with you fella. But you don't have to... I have to make that clear. 😁

I'm definitely a morning person - but when I'm working I have to do all my weekday runs in the evening (sometimes really late) - while I always feel less motivated to run at this time I don't actually find there's a lot of difference in performance.

Also I find my Friday post work run is a really brilliant start to the weekend - running off all that angst before a bath and a lovely glass of some thing cold 😊.

Not what you're looking for?
