Hi, helpful peeps, I've finally decided it's time to brave a Parkrun, and my son has agreed to come along too. I registered ages ago, printed off barcodes, and did nothing. So, now we're both registered, I've printed off barcodes for both of us ... however, they appear to have come out a different size from the original ones I printed. I guess the printer must have resized one lot - but which ones? It says that size matters!! One lot came out pretty well exactly the size of a credit card, 85 x 53 mm; the other lot were smaller, 74 x 44 mm. Before I laminate them, can someone confirm to me the size they're meant to be?

Parkrun barcode question
There are various cards, tags for key rings and wristbands in use at parkrun with differently sized barcodes, so it’s quite likely they will both work. If you want to test your barcode, download the Parkrun Virtual Volunteer app, it’s what you will need if you ever decide to volunteer as a barcode scanner at parkrun. Select the scanning option and see if it will scan.
Good call ... both sizes scanned fine
Very odd that the printable page of barcodes is so adamant that a resized barcode won't work!
Parkrun started with a different technological solution for scanning. The words on the site may still reflect that. I am pretty sure you will be fine.
Can you print it 100%? It would look about the size of a barcode on a book or magazine.
Haha, despite a past life of nearly 25 years in IT, I still get totally flummoxed by printers, hence having no idea what I actually did!
As a former Group Director of IT in a large multinational IT company, and 45 years since I started in 'computing', I also must admit to being flummoxed by printers. In fact, I am convinced they are all made by the Devil. Nice word 'flummoxed', I must remember to use it more often (as I get older)...
It looks like you have the answer but just to reassure anyone. If a barcode does not scan , there will be a volunteer taking details which can be added on manually by the race director. Have fun next week.
I'll try! Ridiculously nervous tbh, even though I know I'm being daft. Going for one 200 miles from home so I don't see anyone I know!!!
Ha ha. That means you’ll have to go to a different one every week as it’s a great way of meeting people.
I'll be fine once I've done it once. I'm always the same with anything new, I like to know exactly what I'm doing, where I'm going, and be nicely anonymous the first time. When I realised we'd be on holiday very close to a flat parkrun, I thought it was time to bite the bullet!
At our parkrun it’s no barcode no time so you have to take your barcode to get a time they won’t do it manually DFYB
... and we did it! First Parkrun in the bag
