I took part in my first event this morning, the Leigh Community 10k. It was very weird running with other people (especially at the start, when I was overtaken by a veritable herd of stampeding gazelles), but on the whole I enjoyed it. I came in with a chip time of 1:04:16, which is pretty much as fast as I can go. I knew I needed to slow down when I started catching up to the 60 minute pacer at around 4k.
I wanted to do this event after seeing some of the finishers last year and thinking, 'I wish I could do that.' And now I can π
Hope everyone is having a happy running Sunday π

Congratulations Runip on completing the Leigh Community 10K on a very good time of 1.04.16, brilliant, now go and celebrate your great achievement. π π
I know what you mean! I usually run solo but went out with my local running club this morning and my pace was noticeably faster. Congratulations on completing your first event, and at a good pace too!
Well done Runip that's awesome!.. I'm surprised this hasn't got more responses.. I think it's 'slipped through the net' I've just seen it myself π€
Hi. I left Leigh, and never really went back, over 50 years ago to go to Uni and would love to go " back home" and run up Holden Rd and around Bedford. I am putting this in my diary for next year. Can you just turn up? Pete?
I have just said to MrsGrump, hang on they are not running races, then noticed it was last year! Wonder why it appeared in my prompts. Anyway see you next year!
