Last time wasn't planned. I was aiming for between 6-7k but didn't want to stop and did 8k. So today was my first planned 8k! Was very enjoyable!
It took me 56 mins in total (that includes two five min walks either side).
The weird thing I notice though is when I was only aiming for 6-7k it seemed easier because going over that was a bonus lol. But planning 8k I kept thinking how far I still had to go! But then when I got to 8k I still wanted to go more (but didn't, which my legs thanked me for on the cool down walk lol).
Its like - up to 3k your still warming up and it feels a bit of a slog. From 3k to 6k you get into an easy stride and begin to enjoy it but the end seems quite far off still. But from 7k suddenly you get a burst of energy and feel like you can just go and go!
Weird!

Brilliant! Well done, CrimsonMama! I wish I knew what was going on inside our bodies and minds that results in these weird thoughts feelings: the sudden surges of energy and varying perceptions of distance/time... I did a fairly quick (for me) 4k this morning with a couple of hills. I got to 3k and felt a bit despondent that I only had 1k left (although I was looking forward to breakfast-making/eating commitments...). I hope you refuelled well after your long run! Onwards and upwards!
