After a disastrous run on Saturday when I only managed 5k, I set out this morning under heavy cloud (yay ๐) with half a thought about getting my 14k done. Iโd spotted a narrow road opposite the Maison de Vin in Monbazillac when I popped to the post office last week and decided to follow it to see where it went. Pottered through various hamlets whose names I recognised from the labels on their wine bottles. Also came across this gorgeous house which looks as though it has been extended over the centuries in different styles. The lane finally popped out on my usual route and wasnโt as far as I thought it would be. At 9.5k I was at the end of the footpath leading through the vineyard to our house and my left knee was niggling (perhaps the unaccustomed undulations!) so I finished at 10k. 14 will have to wait.
PS After a shower and breakfast, I went off to the supermarket for this weekโs shopping. No euro coin to release the trolley, so nipped back to Decathlon. One new pair of running leggings (reduced from 15โฌ to 12โฌ) and I had my euro and could stock up the fridge. Well, it made sense to me ๐๐
Have a great week everybody ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ

A good call Sandie. The 14k can wait for the right route. Those leggings are a great bargain. Sounds lovely running in the French countryside so long as you donโt call in for tasters. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ท๐ท๐ท๐คช
Thankfully a little early in the day for degustation despite the almost limitless opportunities ๐ท We are going with a friend to one this evening though!
That looks absolutely gorgeous ๐ I love it.. Not certain why but it reminds me of The Triplets Of Belleville... it's a brilliant french animation, worth a watch.
Iโll have to look that up! The house was amazing - it has a castellated bit, a half timbered bit and what looks like a medieval bit with a modern entrance to the wine tasting room ๐ฎ
Lovely pic Sandie. Makes me think of Corsica and the smell of the macchia; exotic. Absolutely no use for running of course. There are just some occasions when you have to shrug your shoulders, find a shady spot, relax and inhale the atmosphere...... and drain the odd bottle if you are lucky. 14k can definitely wait ๐
Iโve got pretty much all my running kit (except shoes) and quite a bit of skiing gear from Decathlon. Millions of french people canโt be wrong! ๐
Lovely description (& photo) of your run Sandie! I'm impressed that you managed it in the early morning heat. I'll be in the Dordogne next week and think it'll be short morning runs if anything!
The 10 day forecast is for slightly cooler weather next week (mid 20s) so up to about 10 am I think youโll be ok ๐ My sister and her partner are coming to visit on their motorbikes so donโt want it to be too hot either!
I'll settle for the mid 20s given that it feels like autumn this week back in the UK! We'll be a bit further over from Bergerac in the Domme area. Noir sur how far that'd be from you?
That is a fair distance, sadly a bit too far for a meet up I think. ๐ Have a great time with your sister & partner. Fingers crossed for warm but not boiling weather! ๐ค
