Hello everyone, I completed couch25k last week (3rd time now) and I am going to consolidate for a couple of weeks. My aim is to complete a 10k by the end of the year.

I’m a 52 year old male with a life time ambition to complete a marathon (before its too late 😂) I got (medically) a kick up the a@?e earlier this year which confirmed to myself that I need to start to look after myself. So, who knows...perhaps next year I might be able to call myself “Mr Marathon”😂

I love 5K, and I’m a big fan of my weekly parkrun. I regularly do 7K too which leaves me in touching distance of 10K. I do 10K runs once a month or more if there is an event coming up. But 10K is my Marathon. I have no interest in running further than that. So I’m always impressed with anyone who trains for half or full marathons.

Hi sillybilly, sounds like a sensible plan (well, a marathon wouldn't be for me, but it's a great ambition 😁) Very best of luck, and welcome to the bridge. I look forward to your name change next year 😊

Well done for starting c25k and changing your lifestyle Sillybilly, not so silly after all.

It was the best thing I did; starting at 60 in March 2018. I was running 10k in November after completing the magic plan. And I am now increasing to 10 miles, but that will be my limit.

Good luck with your ambition to run a marathon. With the help of these forums it is certainly achievable . Just one step at a time. 🏃‍♂️👏👏

Hi SB, congratulations on completing C25K and welcome over here! 👋

You’ll definitely be able to work up to 10k after consolidation. It’s a lovely distance and the sense of achievement reaching it is second to none. Then 10 miles, then HM - then who knows? It’s all doable with sensible training and the absolutely invaluable support from everyone on here. 👍

Keep us posted with your progress and good luck! 👏👏

I completed the C25K at Easter, did a couple of months of 5k's and then decided I'd try a new challenge so started the Magic 10, I'm on week 6 now and although it's a push for me I'm managing to keep with the program. Good luck and who knows where you might end up.
