A minor thing can leave you disconbobulated.

I always run carrying a flannel , women of a certain age can perspire ( glow) in a most unbecoming way. This morning I forgot to pick it up. By the end of the run not an inch of my shirt was dry.

If I lent my head at a weird angle I managed to mop my brow with a sleeve, short mind.

I then moved to the neck line and then for shame the hem. Last week I was concerned about showing a muffin top, my belly and bra were briefly on display with each mopping of the sweaty face. Thank you, god no one else was there to witness.

Not my finest hour or run, focussed on how hot, sweaty and dripping I was just scrambled my brain.

🤯

🤣🤣🤣 I don’t care about sweat streaming down my whole body. It’s kind of a badge of honour!

Someone posted about that salty sweat. Bad enough I sometimes have to urge my body on without being unable to see where I am going.

Being drip wet through is ok.

I think my flannel might be a bit of a comfort blanket

Awww! How sweet! 😊 I wear a baseball cap which keeps sweat off my forehead and shields my glasses when it rains.

Runningroni profile image

I find hats just make me hotter. Is your cap any special make, I would give it a go if it kept sweat out of my eyes

i wear a hat too - so as to keep sweat out of eyes but also sun & rain :-) i got a cheap karrimor one from good old sports direct and it's great - i don't find it makes me hot either as it has thin fabric

I think us runners get away with a whole lot of things that non runners don’t - and using your shirt as a mop is the perfect example! So go for it! 🏃‍♀️🥵🏃‍♀️

I’m not a huge sweater - I just turn tomato red and continue “cooking” for some while afterwards! 🥵 🍅 🍅 🥵

No it was just not right and no where near as affective as a bit of towelling.

HinchleyMum profile image

It hurts my eyes when sweat runs into them! May look into a hat too if you can get super lightweight non sweating ones?!

Runningroni profile image
RunningroniGraduate10 in reply to HinchleyMum

Me too. I have thought about those sweat bands tennis players used or is that a bit 80s

Now that’s a good idea. Very Bjorn Borg/McEnroe

I think more borg than Bjorn. Although we might look like beaker from the muppets

I do always run with a buff as a headband, mainly to keep my hair off my face, also keeps my ear buds in.

I use a ponytail headband in the winter (trailhead).

Yesterday was warm though, I'm pretty sure I kept sweating for an hour after I got in 🥵🥵🥵

I use a cheap headband from Decathlon - works well but needs wringing out afterwards!😀

I bought UTS and me some Adidas peaked caps (climacool I think). They are light, ventilated and cooler than the sun beating down on you. They are hand washable too. I will try and link but google running hats and it will come up with some.

I loved reading this...more for "discombobulated" than anything else.

You are doing you...nothing to be worried about☺

Running is just Avery sweaty thing. My face always matches my pink t-shirt after a few km too. No one cares, you're out there doing it and that's what matters 👍🏃🏼‍♀️😀

I sweat too being a woman of a certain age 😊 and I never realised before how much it stings when it goes in the eyes 👀

Oh it does indeed

It certainly dating but I’ve realised it’s worse if I have moisturiser on my face. So now I’ve switched to a sports sunscreen and it’s a whole lot better. Also I’ve started running with a cooling towel round my neck. Keeps me cooler and I can use it to mop up excess perspiration. Sorted 😉🥵

I’ll have a look for that sports sunscreen .. and the cooling towel/sweat mopper thanks for that 😅🥵

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to Knittingrunner

I use sports sunscreen too but I’ve probably mopped it all off within a few miles .

The one I use seems to stick! I even have to physically wash it off when I get home. 😉

Hi runningroni I wear a head band and that helps! I was more of a red faced person but I now actually glow lots !! On my outdoor runs I take some folded up kitchen roll which helps! I like the ‘badge of honour’ comment from muddled gardener!!!

Oh blimey Roni, I can so relate to this. My every waking minute is spent in a puddle at the moment. My eyelids are sore, I swear they sweat as well!

And going out for a run? 5am in the morning? Why not? I’m awake anyway! Buff soaked in water and stretched round my head and wearing less clothes outside than I ever dared in my younger years. Don’t care anymore!

At the gym yesterday, doing a plank, I was sliding around on the mat and I kept having to dry my forearms so I didn’t fall flat on my face 🤣🤣😰🥵

We definitely feel your damp pain on here!

I would imagine the only people who look, are the ones who envy that you are committed to running. Female Or Male we all have (on occasion) the undesirable look......

Don't Worry

Hello runningroni, I have a vision of you baring all to wipe your face on your shirt. 😂

I wrap a buff around my wrist to mop my face during running; then I don’t have to carry anything. You can also wet the buff in cold water in the summer and wrap that round the wrist or neck.

Runningroni profile image
RunningroniGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

I have a buff but we don't get on. It Just makes me feel hotter. I cut it in half as it kept slipping and I ended up looking like I was wearing a headscarf.

I just need to remember my flannel and all will be fine.

I sweat, alot, I invested in some hygge bands (I got 5 for the price of 1!) And put that round my head, it keeps my hair out of the way and stops the sweat dripping into my eyes. So much better except now my nose sweats😂😂

Runningroni profile image
RunningroniGraduate10 in reply to Emm8

I googled them they look like buff, I might try.

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Graduate10 in reply to Runningroni

I invested in some hygge bands as well, because I get very sweaty too, but I look ridiculous with it round my head. I did put one round my wrist though, which helped avoid the cricked neck or exposing the muffin top!!

Runningroni profile image
RunningroniGraduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

So it sounds as though they are good absorbing?

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Graduate10 in reply to Runningroni

Yes, not as good as a flannel but do at least leave your hands free!

Emm8 profile image
Emm8Graduate10 in reply to Runningroni

Oh yes, very good at absorbing, and don't move. I do look a bit ridiculous with it on too but I've got beyond that!!

The first photo I took with it on it looked as if I had no hair 😂

How about a headband. I have a Hygge one. I don't look glamous though!
