A little advice please...

I completed C25k last year and was doing pretty well if I say so myself! Even did a 10k race earlier this year. And wasn’t last!! But due to combination of work, family illness, my own bout of illness, I haven’t been out for a run in over 5 weeks. Do my question is, where would you start/pick up? I think I might go back to 2x10 mins with a walking break. I also wonder if it’s just my nerve that’s gone! Have a lovely Sunday.

Maybe just go out for a slow run and see how it goes? You might be surprised!

I don’t think you need to go back far after 5 weeks . I’d just go for a see how far you get slow run, maybe 4-5K? And take it from there. You are bound to get the toxic 10 but push on past that. You can do this 🏃‍♀️👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks. Will take it easy and see what happens! Just seems a bit daunting at the moment.

Youve not lost as much fitness as you think in 5 weeks so you might get away with a 20 minute run to begin with. Just see how you feel and obviously run very slowly and you can always walk at times if you need to.

Hello 18Windmill,

I have only just read your post of two months ago, so now I am wondering how your run went. Even after two to three weeks off and without being ill, I have gone down to 15mins very gentle running and just increased by 3 mins or so each run. I do hope that you and your family members are well again and that you are happy with your running.

Now that it is dark at my 'before breakfast gardening slot' and the amount of gardening required has reduced, I'm planning to increase my running again. I think being able to run those longer distances is so good for stamina. I'm thinking of a 5 minute cycle and then run so that I can explore some new routes. Even getting a little excited at the prospect! We'll see.
