I did a super slow 8K today, just wanted to make sure I got it all done. I did up my pace in the last 2K once I realised I had enough left in my legs.

Nothing special about this run, music was ok but not like the last 7K run and the only really good bit was Paradise by the Dashboard Light (Meatloaf) as I was nearly finished. I love that song, it makes me laugh every time, it's good to finish on a high.

just the 5K to go on Saturday or Sunday, depending on how the weekend works out

Good luck if you haven't done yours yet

Great stuff, I like super slow. Have you found your steady consistent pace? I have and I like it that I can now settle in and feel OK with the distance to come. 👍🏼👍🏼

yes, my "can go forever" pace is 6.4km/h

it used to be even slower, but it's slowly creeping up :D

🥴 Mine is a bit slower than that lol 😂

slow is good

it takes me over 70 mins to run 8K, I figure I'm burning more fat that way:D

You run your 5K in under 40 mins - I can't do that yet.

Maths is not my strong point lol. I struggle working out difference between km/miles per hour and mins per km/mile 😂😂

My recent Park run in 35:47 nearly kills me. My slow steady time on the 10K I did recently was more like 8:30min per km (included some walking). Much slower and almost enjoyable lol and hubby did the maths and tells me that is around 7.2km/ph 👍🏼

I don’t really care about the speed though, it’s the getting out there and getting fitter. And yes I also think it’s more calories burnt 😂😂😂😂😂 well done us 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Well done. Slow or fast, 8K is a big achievement. Remember that you are nearer to 10K than 5K now.

I’m going to try Meat Loaf on a playlist. I do like Bat Out of Hell.

Paradise by the Dashboard Light has always made me laugh, it has to be one of my top 10 songs. I usually prefer more "funky" songs, but that one is just an epic storyline lol

Nothing special?... NOTHING SPECIAL!!? 8KM! ✨🎉🎈🎆🎇🤗🎆🎈✨🎊😆 Hold on that's not enough.. 🎆🎇✨😆✨🍾

Absolutely brilliant.

Great run there BIT x Meatloaf takes me back to my college days {dreamy sigh} we all lived on campus so needless to say every evening was spent in the bar with the juke box on. (Absolutely no under age drinking occurred 🤥🤪🍻) Two out of three is prob my fav and if pushed could probably remember the lyrics off the top of my head 🙈

I’m planning a slow 8k over the weekend sometime, think I might add a bit of meatloaf to the playlist too. I did a faster shorter one last night with a non-running playlist that somehow had “killing in the name” by Rage against the Machine in it..... that nearly killed me because it has such a strong beat you can’t help but run to the beat of the song but it gets faster and faster and I was going up a long slow hill at the time! It was probably very good for me but wow it was hard 😂 Amazing what a difference the tunes can make isn’t it!

I don't know that one, I will have to listen to it :D

Well done, I think if you’ve done 8k , you’ve cracked it. Only 2k to go.

Fantastic! :)) You could up your pace in the last 2k?? Brilliant! I wish I could do that!

backintime profile image
backintimeGraduate10 in reply toLezlie

I could only do that because my start pace was slow (6.4km/h) (not to be read as 6.4 minutes per km lol). I am running at a very easy slow pace for these long runs. Takes me forever though :D

Seems I should work on my pace! I should slow down more for my long runs ... but it's so difficut. :( I already think that I'm slow, but I think I should try to "run" more slowly because I finish the run and it's impossible of doing 100 meters more!!

backintime profile image
backintimeGraduate10 in reply toLezlie

I feel like I am going snail on crutches slow, but like that I can run for ages, it's a pace that I can sustain fairly easily

It is definitely not the same pace that I use for my last 5K

I ran the last 2K at 7.4km/h because I had some left in my legs and, truth be told, I wanted to get it finished cos I had a meeting.
