Wow, 10K WHOO-HOO! It was perfect out there today, I really enjoyed it. I can't believe I can run 10K. I was in trouble when I started C25K, my running days were a thing of the past, I was obese, I was struggling to tie my shoelaces. It's funny, well not funny at all really, how your mind gets used to negativity. I didn't even realise that my confidence was almost completely gone. I have to thank my doctor/specialist who didn't hold back, he saw my rapid decline and intervened with some stern words.
I got home and walked to a field, away from my neighbours, away from everyone, pressed play and heard Michael Johnson say "Welcome to week one of couch to 5k" 3 months later I've lost over 3 stone and I'm running 10k. I visited that same doctor recently and he just laughed and said "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it"
I'M BACK! All thanks to C25K and this fantastic community and some determination... I've really enjoyed the journey. I finished my run today where it all started and took a picture. I struggled to run up this beautiful path, 1 minute and I was exhausted, but I knew it was the right path, I knew I was heading in the right direction.
Woohoo indeed! Beautiful post, it's never too late to get back on the right path and it can lead to AMAZING things, like running for 10k. Well done you, you're an inspiration! ☺
Thanks Debs! I think everyone in this running community is an inspiration, it's an amazing place. I'm glad I found it and I'm glad you're on this journey with me. Again, congratulations with your run today. 😁
That’s a great post and a great achievement, I managed 5.05 k this morning in just over 44 minutes. When we started this running lark I never thought I would be able to do this. I have read your posts and I’m sure you have read mine, and I think we both agree this forum is the best!
Thank you. Absolutely! It's an amazing forum. Well done today, that's what this journey is all about, smashing that self doubt and learning what you're capable of. We're stronger than we think.
Absolutely Pianism. I feel very lucky, grateful and relieved... Also chuffed. You should be pleased, it's incredible what you've achieved. You're a massive inspiration. I'll see you in Hastings! 😂
Woo hoo Hidden ....well done!!!! That's just what it takes...determination & you've got loads of it...just reading your story proves it...what a brilliant post...so inspirational...and what a lovely path you chose!
Ab-so-flipping-lutely amazing clubberlang! Well done you! 🎉🏅👏👍🥂❤️👊 🤸♀️💪🏃♀️🏃🏅☀️😀 - crikey, there aren’t enough emojis to express how happy I am for you! Bet you’re proud as punch! 👏👏👏
What a star! 🌟
I hope you have a stellar celebration planned for later - and oh, by the way, your new badge looks mighty fine! 🏅❤️🏅
To be honest I've been enjoying wearing my 'large' clothes and annoying everyone saying "Look at these, LOOK AT THEM! They don't even fit me anymore" I should go shopping though 😂
Amazing tale. Well done indeed, and in such a short time for what you have accomplished. Your posts have had such a tone of positivity since you joined that it’s hard to believe what grit and determination it must have taken for you to get from there to here.
You’ve surely found your tribe and cheered a lot of other folks on along the way. Celebrations for that 10K. 🎉👏🏼🎉👍
Thanks Sask...It is beautiful! I haven't been running in the country as much as I'd like, I've been practicing on the roads in preparation for my 10k run. I worry about injuries when I'm off road, I'd be absolutely gutted if I rolled my ankle so close to the race. I'm looking forward to getting out there on the trails soon though.
Just had to add my own congratulations on your first ( and rather speedy!) 10k! Well done. Such a moving post to read as well - what an inspiration to others and so pleased for you!👍😀 Keep on running!🙂
aww sincere congrats clubberlang, your post is brilliant and uplifting to read, you have done so well to turn things round, please accept a virtual hug 😊
This is brilliant. Well done clubberlang. C25k is an amazing thing; almost anyone can do it but you need to commit and believe in yourself as well as the program.
See you over on the Half/Marathon forum in a few weeks? 😉
What a fantastic post to read. Beautifully written. A little mix of nostalgia, grit, determination and some self-belief, all with a philosophical twist. What a journey you are on; inspirational. 😊
What a wonderful post! Well done on the 10K and the Weightloss! I did 5k for the first time yesterday and ran some of the roads I started C25K on, it was lovely! You've inspired me to work on longer distances, I always think I 'can't', but am slowly realising maybe I can!! Thank you. 😊
One of the most inspirational posts I’ve ever read on here. Well done you - what a humbling but fantastic journey you’ve been on and it all started with that little path. On sites like this we really can support each other to be the best we can be. I ran my second 10k on Sunday (four minutes slower than you Clubberlang!) but I’ve been on a private high ever since. It’s getting me through a close relative’s death, which happened only a week ago and made me stronger and more able to cope. Running is so much more than just putting one foot in front of the other. Stay on your little path! X
Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but so happy to hear that running is helping you. It's helped me through some tough times. You're absolutely right, running is so much more than just putting one foot in front of the other. Sometimes when you start a run, you're running away from the world, you just need to get away. But then you hear that voice "keep going! You can do it!" And you do, you keep going, you get to the top of that hill, you fight, you get to the end. And when you finish, you're not running away from anything anymore, you're chasing. You finish with a completely different mindset. We are stronger than we think X
Congratulations clubberlang! 👏👍your post is fabulous, first thing I read this morning and you've inspired me. What an achievement, I'm going to give it my best shot for my first 10k on Sunday. Well done again 😁🏅
Superb effort, great to hear about your running success , weight loss and positivity in turning your life around. Really well done and thanks for sharing, keep it up.
What an amazing achievement clubberlang! C210k and 3 stones lost in such a short time is testament to a huge amount of hard work and commitment. I have no doubt you’ll get to HM if you want to by continuing to do what you’re doing😃👏🏃🏻♂️
Thanks Sandie, I WILL do a Half Marathon, at the moment the thought of running 10k twice is daunting, but I will do it... in fact I've entered the London marathon 😮. I don't actually think I'll get in, but it's just something I have to do! Probably just the once 😂
Well done clubberlang. I only just got into the right mental/physical place to do 10K - more than a year after graduating from C25k. So that was some good going by you!
Interesting 🤔 I was just talking about going to Bristol the other day. I'm going to Bath in September, so I was considering checking it out!... It's a sign! 😃
