This month's Parkrun Tourism meet up with VRBs who have become real flesh and blood running buddies was in the Caribbean. Well actually at Cheadle Hulme, but today you wouldn't have known the difference. Blue skies, hot sun and friendly people.

We all met up at the beginning and again at the end. It's a course that winds 3 times around the park so I was able to wave at the others in passing as I chugged slowly round, trying not to raise my heart rate because I've got a cold and sore bronchial tubes. I didn't get the toxic 10 coz I wasn't running fast enough., I walked every time I even approached getting out of breath and I can honestly say it was the easiest 5km I've ever done. I tried wearing my glasses to run in for the first time ever and it was ok. They did keep sliding down my nose when I got sweaty though.

Pianism had to rush off, then we realised we hadn't done a team photo, which is why he's missing from the photo. The rest of us retired to the cafe. Glad I dragged myself out of bed this morning 😃

Great job guys, sorry I couldn’t make it to the Caribbean today 🤣

Hope to catch you all at the next tourism one if not before. Happy running.

Sorry you couldn't join us. It was a very nice run even though it was so warm. However there was only one puddle which was easy to avoid. You can see how it could become a muddy run after rain though.

That’s what I heard... which reminds me, I was shoe shopping yesterday and still didn’t get any off-road ones.

Hopefully you won't need them for a while

More shoe shopping required then...

This is true... maybe this time I can go to the shop and buy shoes! Friday I went and ordered online, same as last time.

So... I need trail shoes, cross country spikes, socks, spare gloves, more shorts, couple of shirts, hydro pack, gels, maybe some of those arm things Sir Mo uses...

Can you break this news to Mrs UNM???

And I thought it was going to be a cheap hobby!

Well done for doing it nonetheless!

Is that a parkrun 50 shirt, 25 volunteer shirt, and a 100 shirt!? You guys are pro.

And an Apricot. There would have been 2 if Pianism had been able to stay for the aprés-run.

Oh yes and a tourist cowl. I couldn't wear mine today because it was too hot, but Geoff needs to protect his head from burning.

Sounds like a nice meet up. You all look a bit warm : )

We were very warm. There was a bucket of cold water for our bottles so at least we could have a cold drink as soon as wr finished, or indeed on the way round if wanted.

I've now bought a running water bottle and some shorter trousers in case of similar heat. I enjoyed today and was 2 1\2 minutes faster than last weeks run/stagger uphill at Conyngham Park.

Good going Sharuns!

What a beautiful course it was, and so well marked! Far too hot to run, really, but I thoroughly enjoyed it (even though there is no evidence I was ever there!). I hope our HM friend is feeling OK this evening.

You were brave to run in this heat! Well done! Sometimes slow is fun. I marshalled - my 25th!!

BaddieThePirateGraduate10 in reply to Ang33333

Well done. I'm always torn between running and marshalling, and running keeps winning out while I've got an annual total to reach. I might marshal more next year

From September it will be more running. I'm going to do a half marathon in March!

Nice photo of you all Baddie, hopefully there’ll be room for one more in a couple of months. Hope your cold’s better. 👍

Ditto for me too. All our accommodation organised, so just looking for places to run near where we’re staying, otherwise if I don’t run off all the sweeties/chocolate/cake/beer and wine tasting I’ll be doing, I may be walking round the parkruns. Just plotting driving distances to parkruns now (thanks Google) but will definitely let you know.😎
