Enko running shoes

My back has been bad my whole life and recently I’ve been laid up on the IC with a bad spasm which has really knocked me back this time. So rather than dwell on the fact that I may need to cut back or quit running for a non impact sport, I looked around for something that might help me eke out a few more miles before I have to throw in the towel altogether. I came across these shoes by a company called Enko that are bizarre looking to say the least but might help me. They’re very pricey but last longer than ordinary road shoes. I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to wear them during daylight hours but I’m really tempted to give them a try. Has anyone here heard of them or seen them in use? They’ve been around for a couple of years.

Gosh they look very strange! I've never heard of them but if you do try them then let us know how you get on.

Have you ever tried or done pilates? Better still, Reformer Pilates (done on a resistance machine) has sorted out my back big time. There's not many studios outside London but if you search for any in your area then you may find one.

I hope you get some kind of relief as I know how painful back issues are.

Thanks for those tips IP. I’ve heard of Pilates and of course yoga. Never done either before. Never heard of reformer Pilates though. I’ll look it up they do all kinds of therapy here so I might get lucky. Just before my back went I bought 2 new pairs of running shoes so I’m trying desperately to justify these.

I would be worried about "stuff" getting caught in the mechanism so that they didn't collapse properly on one side and stuff, maybe that wouldn't happen, it's difficult to tell without seeing them. They do say money back guarantee though so might be worth it. I would definitely try some core strength even if you do buy them though

Good point but I guess just hose them off?

When you get home yes, but during a run ? A small stick, leaves, mud...They have a money back policy it says : )

That’s what Citroen designers from the 70s are doing in their retirement! 🤣

Very interesting... bet they’d be a swine to clean after a run in the mud. Never seen these and now I need to find somewhere with them and have a go.
