Hi guys !! Well since B,ham 10K nearly 3 weeks ago I,ve been experiencing really sore knees , hip pain, and general lack of energy for running.During a 5K session on wednesday I felt a sharp pain in my right calf (again !!) which pulled me up pretty quick ! I slowed right off , then after doing some stretching, which relieved my discomfort somewhat ,I jogged out to finish the distance.

This morning I headed out to test the waters ,not expecting too much or that my calf would hold up at all , but my energy level was relatively fine and my calf gave little trouble ,until my final Km.Ran a medium pace run of 34:36 for the 5K ,which recent problems considered, I was very pleased with !! So , suffice to say, I have been busy implimenting various glute strengthening exercises in to my sessions, along with stretching routines to bring relief to my knees , and to be fair even after just 3-4 days of practicing , they are having a positive affect !

Considering taking needed rest over the weekend or at least Planning to take sunday,s runout at a very steady pace ,no heroics or chasing down time, but more like a 'recovery run' , a run which no doubt I should have taken after my B,ham effort .

Recent heavy rain caused local flooding and deemed our usual route through the park 'unplayable ' this morning but we improvised and ran the streets as a compromise ,less scenic but a lot drier !! Boy, there is so much more to 'running', than just 'running' !!

Keep on running .

That all sounds positive! Stretching has helped my niggles enormously over the years so I’m not surprised you’re finding the benefits.
