Hi All, I did achieve my goal of a 10km trail run. It was a steep 5km uphill on a rough forest track and a pretty fast 5km downhill after that. I was disappointed to have stopped a few times and to have been slow. But I need to remind myself that trail running is a different beast. I did that run on Saturday, followed by a mountain climb yesterday. My hips and knees are suffering today. So I'm planning an easy week with a couple of 5km recovery runs. I then need to plan my next 10km trail
Well, as reported at some length in another thread ( healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... ), 11k at an average pace of 5'39" ticked off my third and final May target of extending the race-pace run and staying within 6' pace , but for the first time I missed my stretch target pace of 5'30" . But a good month overall, and looking forward to June with a bit of Parkrun tourism as well as further progression, hopefully, on all three fronts.
Hi Bookbizlady, the Quests are here to join in with and to help make yourself accountable with your running goals each month.
You have just graduated and are doing some 30 minute consolidation runs, which is perfect for building up your strength and stamina. Have you read the guide on c25k with suggestions for what to do after Graduating. Here is the link....
Shorter runs, 30 minute runs, new routes, intervals, zombie runs! Lots of things to keep your running interesting. There are the c25k + podcasts to try too which are fun.
Have a look and decide what 'challenge' you would like to set yourself as you carry on with your running journey. It might be to keep running three times a week, or to gradually build up to 5k if you are not there yet....
Hi all, wanted to wait until after my run today before posting...
This week only two runs, and a few walks. We visited Painshill Park on Monday, it's quite close to home but we have never been before and enjoyed a full afternoon of walking and exploring. On Tuesday, we caught a train, then walked back along the Basingstoke Canal for over 14k. Thursday evening I went running and clocked up a 10k run, I am definitely finding this distance more comfortable now. 😊Today I managed a gentle 5k run, to round off my week. I have noticied a twinge in my knee after a hilly run, not during it, but later in the day. Knee strenghening exercises needed!
My plan for the rest of this month's Quest is to get back into doing an exercise video on rest days, knee strenghening, a long run on Thursday, more nice walks and a shorter run next weekend...
Good luck everyone finishing the month in style! 😊xxx
Hello RFC, I Seem to have met the targets I set in May . I ran the Bristol 10k on the 5th, gaining a PB, bling and a T-shirt in my first timed race. I’ve since run another 2 10ks to consolidate. I’ve also managed to get a PB at parkrun this month both on garmin and parkrun times (on different weeks). I did my first JogRunSprint since January this week, so tomorrow will be a nice long slow run with UpTheStanley , followed by parkrun on Saturday. Loving the warmer weather.
