I really hope you're feeling good and have a lovely weekend ahead. Let me know you're ok! How are your runs doing?
I should have done my second run of week 2 on Wednesday but didn't do it then or on Thursday from a combination of stressful days at work, and not wanting to run in the sun.
This morning I woke up about half an hour early and was straight in the mood, so out I went! ๐๐
I decided to re-do the first steady run instead of going straight into a speed workout. I did this because I don't think it would be a good idea to go from not running for 4 days to running at max effort.
I'd appreciate it if you would let me know if you agree this was the right thing to do, I'm a bit uncertain. ๐ค
I ran around my local park listening to a '90s running' playlist from Deezer that was great. I started off at an intentionally slow pace, which I failed at. At the first update, 5 minutes in, I got told my average pace was 5:45 and my current pace was 5:20. I slowed right down and tried to keep steps to the music, which was mostly at a good beat. I'm happy to say that after 20 minutes of running my average was 6:01.
It was a nice run in the early morning sun and I felt I could have gone a lot further.
That + steps at work put my total steps at over 20k today. It's fair to say my legs are feeling it! ๐ฎ
All in all a really nice run! It was fantastic to be running again after having 4 days out and I'm having trouble not going back out now! Don't worry I won't ๐

Wow Mike, what a great run! I think you definitely made the right decision doing a steady run after a few days off (although your steady certainly isnโt my steady!!) ๐คฃ
And smart you making yourself slow right down as you intended. But like I said, youโd laugh uncontrollably if you saw what pace my โslow right downโ is! ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ Youโre clearly a naturally speedy runner, and thatโs fantastic! ๐๐๐๐๐
Iโve had an awesome week of running thanks. ๐ 14k on Monday (longest run ever), a scenic, rather lazy, 5k on Thursday - no reason, just really did NOT fancy intervals, and I thought they could wait for another day! Today Iโm off to parkrun at Ashton Court. A challenging course which gives the biggest runnerโs high at the top of the hill where we turn round. Canโt wait!
Thanks very much Cheeky ๐ค good luck in the park run!
I do still think I could slow down a bit more but the pace I was going felt fine. It's funny that I'm trying to add on time, rather than being quicker ๐
I sympathise with not wanting to do intervals, at least they're only once a week. I doubt they will have much impact, in a positive sense anyway, on my 45 minute one on Tuesday. Thankfully I'm off on Tuesday, so can feel free to do it in the morning with no worries about getting back in time for work. I shall have to wait and see what my 'steady' pace will be ๐ค
You too cheeky, thankfully I'm not at work this bank holiday weekend ๐คธ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐คธ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐
Don't worry I'll report back, I've just got to find out where I'm doing it first. I had a look at a nearby nature reserve last week but it was far too hilly, unfortunately. I almost posted about it because I took a picture of a swan with her little babies. Who doesn't want to see that, right? ๐ฒ Maybe I'll make that my picture for my next run ๐
