...that my Parkrun time last week wasn't incorrect, and I am capable of doing a km in under 6 mins (downhill at the begining of a run). I did Marple Parkrun today and let myself get carried along by the other runners at the begining. My first km was 5:54. I knew I couldn't keep that pace up and sure enough there were no negative splits as I slowed during the run, but I gave it everything I'd got and bettered last week's run by 39 seconds.
I only went this morning to see Pianism 's new t-shirt, which looks very nice and makes him easy to spot.
A group of 5 VRBs had breakfast and a chat together. It was a lovely morning. Thanks everyone.
Why is it I feel like running again this afternoon, but know I won't feel like it in 2 days time? Humph!

Well done BaddieThePirate It was a nice run today and a very nice gathering over brunch afterwards. It was my best time this year, but about 20 seconds slower than my course pb.
Good run for you today Baddie, it's quite an achievement for a new runner to get a sub 6 minutes 1K at any time, the only time I got that was when I ran my PB 5K, that was a sub 6 minutes 1K, but only on the first kilometer, all the other 1K splits were +6K's.
What about the slow bits in between? Good point though, I guess I haven't been doing the fast bits hard enough! My next run will be slow and easy, then I'll do some intervals π
If I'm correct your last run included an awful lot of UP hill, which if you're anything like me slows your time down unbelievably. I was LAST uphill earlier this week, but middle of the group on flat or downhill ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈππ
That happens to me Baddie, I think itβs definitely the endorphins. Parkrun never feels quite far enough any more, I think thatβs why a lot of people run to and from. Trouble with Marple is there are just too many gorgeous cafes to chomp at afterwards! Most do it again some time πx
