I just find that sometimes I have a run like this and there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. I am sure something is going on - dehydration? food intake? poor sleep? who knows but I can't usually point the finger at anything. I have decided that even a bad run is a run and they all help in the end. Bet next time you go out is better, just cos that is how it goes!

Hi Billib. These runs happen now and then, it even gets to the point where you know before you open the door that there's not too much gas in the tank ,but, we still do the session anyway !! Sometimes we hear our body saying 'not today ,I need rest ', but we dont pay heed , leaving ourselves even more tired and frustrated when our body fails to deliver !!
After a solid 'easy' run' yesterday ,followed by sprint repeats , and a long hard day at work today ,Im shattered - I have a series of exercises to carry out this evening and in the morning we have our last 10K run before 'B,ham great run' , a week sunday - My body is saying 'stop' ,my ego says, 'go' !! Sometimes we are afraid of taking time out as if our ability to run might mysteriously run off without us somewhere !! When I have listened and perhaps taken an extra day ,or two, of rest, Ive always come back refreshed and up for the game ,and my times have improved too !!

Too bad and we've all been there. Do you know what your resting heart rate was when you got up? I keep an eye on mine and if it's 10 bpm above my weekly average I take that as a warning that something's up with my metabolism and take an extra rest day.
