If I Didn’t Run...

Well, this came as a bit of a surprise. I was feeling fine over bank holiday but then I got the tickly nose and yesterday afternoon...bamb! Yet another cold 🤧. I had planned for a 7 mile run yesterday, once the rain had calmed down, but as the day progressed it was obvious this wasn’t going to happen. I still had some energy so I did something I hadn’t done regularly in a long time - I did some HOUSEWORK (😱queue dramatic music😱).

Katnap went for a run with the athletics club last night and I didn’t feel up to anything once I’d made dinner and cleared up, so I started to watch LINE OF DUTY from the start as I’ve never seen any of it. By the 5th episode I was starting to fall asleep... It’s quite good isn’t it?!

So, this morning, I’m finding out that Spurs have got through to the Champions League final, I’ve been given breakfast in bed and I’ve taken the day off work. The weather is still awful...and I’m not bothered because I still feel 🤒

And I’m thinking...this is what my days used to be like, watching loads of telly, having a housework routine...having any routine come to that. Along with the permanent feeling of being overweight, of solitude, of stir craziness and of fast creeping decrepitude, this is what life would be like again if I didn’t run...

I know when I’ll be ready again as those feelings will come roaring back...and it won’t be long I promise because it is there tingling in my toes, reminding me. The housework and Line of Duty will then have to wait again 😊🦆

Thanks Floss 🤗. Really? Never??? I think you need to book him in, for your birthday at the very, very least 😀. It’s crumby btw, I’ve toast crumbs everywhere, so I need to get up now...

Awww TC, sometimes our bodies take over. Yours has welcomed an unwelcome cold, but you’ll come back happy and healthy. Hey, the weather is pants and there’s LoD to watch! (Note: must watch it from series 1 as I have FOMO!)

Hope you feel better fast TC. Look after yourself in the meantime. ❤️

TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

Thanks cheeky 🤗 Finished series 1 this morning and now onto series 2. It definitely needs concentration time and it was very good but I felt it was dragged out a bit towards the end. Ironing done so I don’t feel so guilty sitting watching it but shattered now.

Makes a change for a cold, not only is the weather bad but it’s not the weekend either, so fingers crossed I’ll feel human by Saturday (I’ve got to! It’s my Parkrun anniversary 😳!) xx

Oh you must take extra good care of yourself in that case! You can’t miss your PR anniversary! 🎉🎉🎉

I know!! It’s so frustrating!!!

This post is shocking! You nearly fell asleep watching Line of Duty??!!!! 😲😲 And you did some housework?!!!!!! How could you?

Seriously though, shame about your cold but it’ll pass and then you can let the dust settle on the furniture and run to your little heart’s content and not care. You can shop online or plan new run routes while recovering.

Well, that’s what I do anyway 😂😂

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to Irishprincess

😂😂 That’s a very good idea IP, much better than doing housework! 😂. I’ve done enough of that now, so yes, I think I’ll give new route searching a go. Right I’m off to make a cup of tea and take some paracetamol 🤗

Hope you feel better soon TC and get over having done housework😂 I’ve never seen Line of Duty either, but don’t think I can be bothered (didn’t see Killing Eve either!)

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

😂😂 Done enough now Sandie 😁 I know what you mean, I probably wouldn’t otherwise but it’s a good excuse to try and keep still for a while (I’m not very good at that). Did see Killing Eve but I’ve never seen Game of Thrones 😱😱😱

Get well soon TailChaser!! Having taken up running, life without it, even for a short spell is so noticeably different, but noticing it is so great too. A Runner on pause is still a Runner!! Wishing you rest and relaxation and a speedy recovery. ❤️

TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to Fabulous450

Thanks Fab, very wise words 🤗 I must have been poorly last night as I didn’t feel jealous of Katnap’s run! I just hope it doesn’t go on too long but now I know I’m just ‘a runner on pause’ 😍🤞

Hope you feel better soon. As I always say about housework I cannot see the point of it..you go right through the house and clean it top to bottom then 12 months later you only have to do it again!!!

My sister used to stand and do her ironing for over 2 hours every Sunday evening. I have ironed twice this year ( new curtains had to wash and iron them to get the creases out) and that was 2 x too many for me. I asked my sister once “ what the hell do you find to iron? “ and she replied “ everything”. She ironed tea towels, towels ffs!!!, pants, bras, socks!!!!! Poly cotton bedding!!! I said just buy stuff that doesn’t need ironing - that’s the first thing I check on labels nowadays. She doesn’t any more now I’ve converted her- she’s rediscovered time to do her fav hobby of sewing and starting back up drawing too.

I wash mine with Bold with softener included and fold it straight off the washing line, sometimes a little whizz in the tumble drier.

Life is too short for unnecessary housework, I hoover round and wash my downstairs floors daily and do all my dishes - that’ll do me.

You relax and watch LOD ( yes it is good isn’t it?) then maybe try Luther ? And get well soon and get back to running.....and stop this housework nonsense 😉💕

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10

😂😂 No! I can’t not do it, sorry I don’t know why but it has to be done...that’s not to say that I’m a slave to it, running definitely comes first I promise. You do more than me by the looks of things though - once a week hoovering if that, Katnap does the dishes and I would never, ever, ever, ever iron pants, bras and socks. All ironing usually gets shared out. Can’t use Bold or softener though as youngest kitten and I have very sensitive skin.

I’ve tried Luther, couldn’t get past Episode 1 I’m afraid. Hopefully won’t have time to try it again as I’ll be getting back in the Lycra soon 😁🤞🤞🤞. Thank you Lou 🤗

Housework 😱?!? Say it isn't so! I get feelings of guilt when I get one day off and choose to spend it doing my long run, eating, showering, napping because I'm tired from my long run.....and then it passes because I feel so good that I ran. I was supposed to run last night but was at work until after midnight the night before and had very little sleep. By the time I got home from kiddos soccer game, saw the mound of dishes and realized we were running very low on clean dishes, I decided to forego my run. Got dishes done, 2 loads of laundry and fell asleep on the couch. I woke up and was in bed by 9:30! Unheard of for me, but had an awesome sleep - full of lots of sleep talking according to my hubby 😳 ( hope I didn't share any secrets 😂). Perhaps I'll do my interval run tonight, then heading to the lake tomorrow morning for a short trail run/hike before getting home and getting ready for a busy weekend on call. I should stay home and clean my very furry house instead of heading to the lake for a run but Nah! I've got my priorities straight 😁.

Take care of yourself. Enjoy your time indulging in the telly and once it passes, you'll be back stronger than ever 💪🏃‍♀️💕

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10

Thanks Sask 🤗 It does make a nice change indulging in telly. And it is nice to have all the ironing out of the way too, not staring at me to nag others to do theirs.

It’s horrible when you have to forego a run for housework or other horrible home admin, I had one like that a couple of weeks ago where I couldn’t get going because I knew there was a load of stuff still waiting for me at home. As you say, a one hour run takes another hour after stretching, eating, showering etc. You should definitely go out there whilst you can, that’s why my housework has been waiting for so long!

Happy running, and I’m looking forward to getting back to it 👍😍

So sorry to hear you are not well TailChaser, and think you should just lie on the sofa and get waited on by your family. Having said that, Stanley has been sneezing the last two days too, wouldn’t want him to see that 😂

I’ve loved line of duty, but found it too intense to watch one after the other. I’d have been in a right state.

Hope you are feeling better soon. 🤧🤒

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to Dexy5

Thanks Dexy. After two series and one episode of Walking Dead I think I’ve had my fill now 😂. Hope Stanley doesn’t have this cold, it’s a bit horrid. Definitely feeling on the mend now 👍

Housework, no, stop that right now. LOD on the couch, yep, repeat with cups of tea until better. Sorted 😉

It’s getting there GOG, there’s a big ‘me’ dent in the sofa and I’ve had a gallon of tea. Feeling better tonight thank you 🤗

Thanks Pianism, I know what you meant 🤗 running has certainly made me more philosophical about what life throws our way. After all, it’s just a cold at the end of the day, even if it is blinkin’ annoying 😂🤧

TC hope you are feeling better soon. Binge watching LOD sounds just perfect to me too 😀but I obvs need to train Mr Wimborne better too 😂. Keep those toes tingling and you will be back out soon. Did you manage PR today?

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to Wimborne

No, it tired me out just walking there 😫 I signed up for Run Reporter, which was a good choice as it was amazing watching everyone as they set off.

How are you doing?

Wimborne profile image
Wimborne in reply to TailChaser

Ah you are wise TC. So glad you are taking it a little easy. And no miracles overnight for me. I don’t think it’s as bad as I thought though having done a similar things years ago which took ages to recover from. I reckon 4 weeks then physio. That’s not so bad I guess 😃.

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserGraduate10 in reply to Wimborne

It’ll go by quickly, I’m sure. Hopefully the physio will let you get back to gentle runs after the 4 weeks 🤞🤞🤞
