Hi guys !! Well , I couldn,t resist any longer I just had to give it a whirl and go for my first head to head with a full on 5K effort today .Nothing remarkable here but I managed to finish in a time of 33 minutes 43 seconds(age 61) .Im quite p!eased really as I just didn,t know what to expect on this initial effort . One of my main goals ,in time, is to run a sub 30 minute 5K , so Im now up to speed (huh ?!?!) with where I stand relative to achieving this. I enjoyed the experience but felt the energy was in the bank whilst feeling the oxygen had gone Awol !! I ran the first kilometre in 7minutes 4 secs and the 4th in 6 minutes 3 seconds so I must have tapped in to hidden reserves of air supply somewhere mid run . Shall concentrate on the longer slower 10K for now and perhaps after B,ham 10K will take another,'reading'

Well done! Continuing to run longer distances e.g. 10k, should help you with your 5k times - worked for me.

If you haven’t tried it already, parkrun is a great incentive to improve pace on 5ks. It’s my favourite run of the week, and my fastest..

And congratulations on your 10k graduation- I think I missed it.
