It was not a fluke... ran 10Km again!

I had this sort of niggling worry that two weeks ago when I managed 10Km by surprise, that it was a never-to-be-repeated fluke.

Last week I got to the point of return, and returned under Park Wood doing 8.5Km, instead of pushing on up the steep long drag to Orthwaite and doing the 10 Km round again.

This week, as I ran down from Peterhouse Farm, I was praying the 'shall I, shan't I' mantra, and wondering which way I would be led. And then half-way up the road to Orthwaite I realised I had decided to try it.

The fields were mercifully much drier than that first run, and I arrived home after 10.5Km with dry feet, a pain in my groin (which has eased now - downhill over sheep pasture in road shoes), and a feeling of:

'YES' (Bold 60 pt caps) ☝🍺

Not quite as good as all you half-marathon guys and gals, but pretty good for this old codger.

Congratulations 'theoldfellow'( you are not a old codger,) on running another 10K, you seem to be enjoying your runs, sounds a very nice area to run, yes, I also congratulated all those half marathon runners at the weekend, especially Oldfloss, just wondering if you were considering 🏃 running a HM. 😊

Not yet. Next year, perhaps, after I get into the 70+ age group.

Good morning to you 'theoldfellow', yes that is very interesting what you say regarding once you are in the 70+ age group, I'll be 73 in May but I am happy just to keep my running distance at 5K.

On my running "anniversary" or as they call it here "runniversary" I'll be rerunning C25K more as a form of exercise than upping it to 10K or more.

I think it's like riding a bike TOF - once you've done it you never forget how! Well done .

I’d say it’s pretty amazing! Well done, definitely not a fluke. I hope to be there myself in a few weeks

Well done theoldfellow definitely not a fluke. Isn’t it great to be able to decide to just go for it and hit that goal 😃🏃‍♂️💥

I think that is why I like to run from home on a vaguely circular route. I can set off with, say, 5Km in mind, but do 7, or 8 or 10. I think there is also a 12Km option there if I keep going after the big climb. Next time maybe.

It's knowing that I have you guys rooting for me that helps too.

Hope you all know how much it helps.

Well done. Looking at how much you sped up over the last 2k, I'd say you had plenty left in the tank 😃🏃‍

I'm actually dreading running on the flat now. Hidden 's experience after moving is that it's a different set of muscles. So after 55 years of letting all mine waste away, I have a year of getting the running up and down ones working, but what about the flat?

I have a conference in Hertfordshire coming up, and there is a Parkrun 500m away from the venue, so.... and then we'll see.

❤🙏❤ to you and UTS, as always.
