So I arranged to start work a little later and hit the road early. Wearing very little! I was quite shocked at myself; not half as shocked as my flesh, however, which rose up in great hilly goosebumps, every fine hair alert and quivering in shock. Within a couple of minutes, of course, my body realised we werenโt going to get anywhere near hypothermic and we relaxed into a steady rhythm. It was such a relief to be able to breathe through more than just my mouth and nose! I thoroughly recommend baring as much flesh as possible.
I had a plan this time; nose-breathe as much as possible, run the regular circuit, run for 30 minutes without stopping.
I felt comfortable... I tootled along breathing through my nose, absorbing the wind and even enjoying the cooling and invigorating effects. I had put on some folksy music someone I know has written; not my usual fare but I found myself relaxing and enjoying it. The sun was shining and it really felt great to be out.
As I turned for home just past the halfway mark, I had a little delay holding a gate open for someone, then off it was for the last stretch uphill. I looked at my watch at that point and realised I was on target for a 5k PB, which slightly sabotaged my easy run! The last 4 minutes or so were very uphill with three gates and a cattle grid and I was pushing the pace...
I finished just outside my PB and was pretty out of breath for 30 seconds or so, but wow, that was a good run! What a difference a couple of days makes. What makes it even better is that it is now absolutely lashing it down outside so Iโm feeling a bit smug that I got out early.
E27 told me about the Recovery Adviser function. It seems I needed 26 hours rest.
We will see!
