Having heard the 'audible warning' on my car the other day, I had it booked in at the local garage. Which is around four miles away. Sounds good so far, no?
Yes!
So, having gone to take my car in, I ventured tenuously back home, with a quick warm up walk and then started running...
Like a velociraptor was chasing me. My first kilometre was done in 6:34, despite a walk break for a few seconds when I heard the bad news from the Strava lady! 😂
I had pacing troubles throughout, but this was a new route, (mostly downhill, with a few flats and short steep hills. If I'm honest, I'd hate to run it the other way, I think I'd be physically and emotionally broken for DAYS) and I admittedly struggle with pacing on new routes. But, having said that I enjoyed it! Managed 4.97k in 37:11, pretty quick for me, I usually aim for 8 mins a kilometre, so I think I did well. And then I walked back...
All uphill, managed a good solid pace, managed some mindfulness whilst I went. Unfortunately, right now my thighs are a little read and sore because of the 7 miles or so I went today. (This is including the warm up/down walks on my run and the bit where I forgot to put Strava on, duh...)
It doesn't help that at work I usually walk 10+ miles a day, but I'm hoping I won't feel to bad tomorrow and be back trying for 6k on Sunday!
