Just read this ParkRun training link for intervals. Looks helpful to anyone thinking they want to try something different to help their pace or endurance.

That's a good find, and all in a language I can understand 😁. I'm not quite ready for interval training at the moment, but I have bookmarked it for when I am. Looking forward to giving that a go. Thanks Richard. 👍

C25k+ has an interval podcast using music beats for faster and slower paced. I did it the other day for the first half of my run and enjoyed it😊

thanks Baddie. I did try this podcast (with Laura?) a while a go and I couldn't really get to grips with it!! or seem to run the right pace to the music...1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4... but think will give another go.

I've just downloaded Jog Run Sprint as recommended on this forum. Will try it when the snow has gone away

I read that article too, and it spurred me on to try intervals today. I downloaded the 30-20-10 app (might be called 10-20-30 come to think of it 🤔) and had a go this morning. It was fun - and hard work. Will try to incorporate intervals once a week from now on. *Said it, got to do it* 😅

It’s actually called JogRunSprint and it’s an app which Dexy5 mentioned. You can programme your preferred intervals/sets and it was great fun. Jog slowly, run at 5k pace, then sprint. Sounds simple enough, which it is - but it’s surprisingly hard! 🏃‍♀️💪

I am guessing that specific one is a Apple based app as cannot find it on Google play store. But there after others!

Yes I am on Apple Richard so that could be the case. I am sure there must be something similar on Android.

Did not know there was an app for that. I did a number of 30/20/10s in the summer and programmed it into my watch. It was fun to do and it got me pushing my pace up nicely. I switched to intervals for a while then stopped for a bit. It's nice to have some variety.

Definitely Richard. I’d been avoiding intervals because I like structure and I couldn’t work out how to time myself. The app is great and does it all for you. 😀

I have a Garmin watch and you can program it to set distances or times. But if you don't have something like that there are various apps.

I do have a Garmin (FR 235), but I got it for Christmas and I’m still working out how to use all its millions of functions! 🙄

Same watch fort me. If you go into the app on your phone. Select Workouts. You can add a new workout. Within that you can add steps and repeats. Within the repeats you can add steps do you build up a routine. You then sync it to your watch. Then when you are out running your watch shows you the current step and how far into it you are etc. You can set goals for each step like pace or heart rate. I have used it for 30/20/10 which is a little crazy as your wrist end up buzzing every interval but also use it for various interval runs.

Keep using your app but give the watch a try. Also if you use the watch to do the intervals or whatever it will recognise the steps as laps and show you how you did on that specific lap breaking down your results in more detail.

Just a bit i didn't mention on your watch when you want to use the workout instead of just selecting the RUN button, scroll down to Training then within Training select "My Workouts". You can then find the workouts you synched with your watch. Select the appropriate workout and you can "Do Workout", "View" or "Delete" (which I think just deletes it from the watch but not 100% sure). It helps to give them short useful names :). Have fun playing with them.
