Interval enjoyment

For the past two weeks on my short run I've opted to do interval training after Fionamags suggested they were helpful with pace. I must admit I enjoy them and this week during the 5k pace I found that sweet spot again. It's also helping me slow at the beginning for the warm up run. Intervals complete then a slow pace home for yoga with Adrienne. Great start to the day☺️ happy Tuesday everyone 👍

I do the same. As I run in the mornings, I do intervals on work days and save the long run for the weekend. I started using the interval plan in the 5k+ program but ended up making up my own on Map My Run. I'm still not at 10km yet though. Currently sitting at 8km but I'll attempt 9km this weekend.

I do similar. I use the intervals on the Nike Run Club app. As far as 10k goes I've stalled. I'll try for 7k on long run this week but if it doesn't happen no biggy. Just trying to get back to a routine I enjoy. Good luck with 9k🤞

Sounds great! What intervals do you do? I've tried a 30-20-10 and an increase and taper. Looking to try a fast/slow interval but not sure what length of time to do for each.

I use the Nike Run Club app. There's lots of different guided runs by time and distance plus speed runs of varying lengths. It keeps me interested 👍 I'm not organised enough to make my own 🥺

You seem to be well disciplined, I'm impressed having started that way and allowed life to take over. Did do a 20 minute run related mini workout this morning - just got to repeat on other days. Happy running 🤗

I find structure easier. It's still hard work but if I'm working to a programme I'm all the better for it. You're doing ok tho you seem to have it sorted! 👏👏

I think the term is "so far I'm getting away with it" dangerous place to be 🤣🤣

What a lovely start to your day Allbarron, I love Adrienne’s yoga... great your interval training is working so well for you, ‘enjoying and finding the sweet spot’ sounds so good 🤗

Yay that's fantastic AllB!!! Its brilliant when that happens, isn't it? What did you use for ur 5k? I made up a new spotify playlist for my long run and for some reason I can't download it on my phone. Don't know if its my wifi or Garmin. Grrr.

I used Spotify and the walk/run playlist that Hidden suggested for Sunday's 6.5k. Today for my speed run there was a playlist suggested but not sure it ran with the interval, a little out of sync. Just stretching the stride a little really makes a difference. Feels more like a run than a shuffle 🥺

Well done AllBarron. Lovely way to spend your morning. I’m all over the place today so haven’t been able to do my planned run. I might manage it this evening and also do yoga after 🤗.

Thanks Delly. I hope you manage your run and yoga. Days like that are draining. 🤞

I have managed to shoe-horn my run in 😊. I’m just about to put my running gear on and my husband is dropping me off at the cricket ground where my son is doing his cricket practice this evening and I’m running home 😊.

I am so impressed, you are so disciplined. I am all over the place and really need to try to stick to a plan.

Well done on the runs and yoga 🧘‍♀️

Not really disciplined. Just working with a plan. You've identified the key. This plan works for me at this time. I've tried before but have been more successful this time. Honestly it sounds like a cliche but if I can do this, anyone can. 🤔

Which plan are you using? I can’t seem to find a link, but useless with this sort of thing. I am spending too much time telling myself I don’t have time to run 10k, partly as I think it would take me two hours 😂😂

Don't think so looking at your last post of 4k in 26 minutes...I wish🤦. I have been using the Nike run club app since graduating. It provided the structure I needed once MJ left me. There are guided runs by time and distance and a variety of speed runs which are also time based. I find them easy to listen to plus explanation and expectations are very clear! Plus they also have s playlist on Spotify to go with them.

Go you enjoying the intervals 😀 I like doing intervals too but so far have only used the speed c25k+ podcast. I downloaded the nike running app ages ago but not used it yet... you have given me the incentive, thank you!

I started with"find your pace" as it was the shortest. Today's was 17 minutes which seemed to go by pretty quick. Hope you enjoy them 👍
