Iβm so pleased and excited about my 3rd run of the week! I woke up and of course itβs dark, π₯΄, but I think about taking it on with my head torch. I decide Iβve got to face it. Older son tells me Iβll be ok, π₯°, just wrap up warm itβs cold out there! π€¦π½ββοΈ So we debate, hoody, no hoody! Debate too long, as Iβm getting a little side tracked. Eventually, I decide on a warm zippy, not a hoody, so I donβt have to conduct any amateur dramatics like I did a few days ago on New Years Day, π₯΅!!.....Heeeelp! π€£!
For the first time, I was so wishing I wasnβt going out there on my own! I wanted to ask one of them to come with me, but I didnβt! I knew they would, but I just feel as though I have to do this. I donβt want to depend on them running too! It will be amazing to run with them every once in a while, but itβs me and winter that need the closeness right now! π€ I need to know I can do it!
Itβs a 30 min guided headspace run, so I figure a run/walk might be in order! And yes, I stopped to cross the road once (mandatory & wise! π€π€£) and again to tie my shoe laces, π±! And the sky didnβt fall down! (β Note to self)! I just expected to ache a bit more for some reason! But apart from a little early slight tightness in the thighs, it was great!! I have my coffee as I write, Iβm sat in McDonalds having my reward and then Iβm going to WALK back! After 6 weeks of no running at all, I can run for 30-45 mins. How can that be? π€·π½ββοΈ Iβm not sure, but Iβm loving it, as McDβs would say! ππ½ββοΈπ₯°
P.S. Iβm not even a little tempted to have a muffin or anything else! I just feel fantastic! Now runners, itβs time for my celebratory walk back! If it gets a little nippy, I might run a little, but Iβm well wrapped up! Iβm declaring today, a great day!! Not bad for 9am in the morning!
Happy running, runners!! β€οΈ

Cool. The only problem I see is when you get to the stage that the McDβs is in the middle of your run itβs gonna be hard to do the second half with a hot coffee in hand... if only they had lots of restaurants all over the place π. My dad spent years having coffee there with his laptop, saying it was cheaper than broadband, but has now taken the plunge and his home is finally online... I hope this isnβt due to a change of browsing type π±
Nice to see you back running... Iβve missed the alerts! Keep on doing it your way and getting out there.
π I thought about that too, but Iβve discovered thereβs a little park and tennis courts near by, so I did a slight divert around there for a few minutes to make sure the run was done before the coffee!! In these early getting back to it running days, even if I just run there, itβs a win!! π!
And thank you!!π I love doing it my imperfectly perfect way! Though I do want to get organised with the attire and the tech from the night before! Some imperfections can be improved! π€£π€£β€οΈ
Sitting here, drinking my coffee, dressed to run, and waiting until I think it's light enough (in truth it's been light enough for an hour, but it's good coffee). But now you have inspired me to get 'off butt', and face the run.
I did, not far, just a 3Km run, but I did some intervals to get the heart rate up to 150. I'm trying to change my running form to be more forefoot-strike to protect my OA-knees.
Great stuff Fabulous- sounds like a plan ππ. Iβm just re- booting my three times a week running after a couple of months of not managing much more than once a week so perfect or imperfect, running is running and it feels great πββοΈπββοΈ
Thank you!! A nice treat to celebrate is definitely the way to go! I had a lovely chat with the lady serving me today, which was nice too! Itβs much better than being home all day! β€οΈ
Fabulous Fab! πππ You got out and did it your way and it worked. Way to go. ππ
Iβm currently sitting in the car with my dog at Reading Services on my way back to Bristol. I dropped my daughter back to London armed with her parkrun barcode and Iβve asked to try out her local, Hampstead Heath! Iβm running tomorrow. Canβt wait for a quick little 4k.
Happy running! We are clever arenβt we? ππ
Glad to know youβre back on form Fab. Iβm thinking of joining the runners at the running club tonight as Iβm now back on Grandparent duty Monday to Friday and have to fit my naps around a one year old (still the age to take naps thankfully!). Means I can do one run with the club, one while sheβs napping and a weekend one too. Theyβve opened a McDonaldβs near me but too near to run to unfortunately. Would have to take the scenic route π
Thanks so much Sybil and thanks for checking in too!! Much appreciated!! π€π€π€!
I think the running club is a great idea! Thatβs the great thing about running, you get to try out so many different ways to see what works for you!! Possibilities are endless really! Have fun!! ππβ€οΈ
Thanks so much!! Iβll definitely watch out for the Muffin temptation! The coffee is perfect time for embracing the feel good after the run isnβt it? πππ½β€οΈ
Lovely morning fabulous!πππ I did a 10k in 1C this morning. What kept me going?; the thought of my long run reward, my flat white at the walkway cafe. Nothing else tastes as good. New Year hugs too! The world feels like a better place. ππ
