Not only did I get hubby out for a Christmas Day run with me, but I managed to convince him to wear a Christmas hat while running AND take an obligatory post run selfie. What?!? Somebodyβs heart grew by 3 sizes today π€£. Itβs been a long time since we ran together and heβs been battling a niggly back this last year so we kept it short but sweet. Perhaps this may become a regular occurrence? Time will tell. He has no desire to compete again but perhaps I can convince him to hit the trails with me this summer. He was a cross country runner in his youth and I know heβd love hitting the trails. Baby steps Allie, baby steps π
It is a Christmas miracle π: Not only did I... - Bridge to 10K
It is a Christmas miracle π
Looks like you both enjoyed it π.
Here's wishing you more joint runs in the New Year.
Fantastic news, well done! πππ I hope you manage to persuade hubby to come out again with you and enjoy running. Itβs a great end to 2018ππ
Good luck with running into 2019! πββοΈπββοΈπ
Lovely photo Sask! Hope youβre having a wonderful day after your fabulous run together. ππββοΈπ
Happy running in 2019 too. Hope hubby can hit those trails with you! πββοΈπ
Great you both got out together today! Wishing you many more runs together in 2019...πβ€οΈβοΈ
Omg Sask.....this is brilliant news...little and often is the phrase that springs to mind...come on Allie, join us...you know you want to xx
Thanks MC. I do love my long runs though π. I did drop him off and continued on for a little longer once he went as far as he dared today. It was a win-win and he was A-ok with it. It takes me a couple km to reach my groove so I hated to stop just as I was reaching my stride. A little stop to take a pic and off I went again π
Great pic. Happy running the happy festivities π
Good news Allie - happy running!
The picture says it all SaskAlliecat. It looks like OH enjoyed that run as much as you. Great hats too.
Absolutely fab photo! You could use it for your Christmas card next year π
I had one run with my husband before he had to give up permanently although he was a runner for years. A big regret in life that I hadn't discovered running back then βΉοΈ but the memory of us running together is a special one.
Happy Christmas Saska π
Oh what a lovely picture! You both look so healthy and happy. So glad the hubster joined you. Wish my partner would, as itβs so nice to have someone to run with now and then. I like my long solo runs, but do get a bit lonesome sometimes.
I hope he gets the bug again and continues to join you more often in the new year. Happy running and Happy 2019 to you, lovely Allie!

Thanks Sadie. I also love my long solo runs where I get lost in my thoughts and music but it was a real treat to run with him. He made it clear he's not interested in running the long distances I do, but is willing to maybe build up to 10k again. I'll take it! We'll see when we get back into the chaos of work but hopefully we'll get some more runs in together this winter so he's able to tackle some of my shorter trail runs with me this summer.
Lovely picture! Glad you both enjoyed your run. You have that post running glow
How lovely, and you both look so happy. X
Great picture! Loved the Grinch quote in your post! It is nice when a hubbie or partner runs with us, especially when they donβt usually.
He's teaches middle school and likes to refer to himself as a grinch at Christmas time. One year on the last day of classes before the Christmas break his class dressed him up as the grinch, green face and all. They even had a little baggie with a chicken heart in it for his breast pocket. He was such a good sport and the kids had a blast.
When we started dating exercise was a huge part of our relationship and continued to be up until 10-15 years ago. He made it clear he's not interested in running for hours but is thinking he'll run some of my shorter run with me. Yay! Even if it was just one of my runs per week, it is a nice way to reconnect and do something together again.
Sounds like hΓ©s a great teacher! Thatβs a great Grinch story. Short runs together will be nice!
Lovely photo. You both look really happy. How wonderful if he runs some short runs with you. Donβt scare him with a long, snowy trail and ravine run and he might just get addicted π
Gorgeous pic with big smiles...
Aaaw lovely photo of you and hubby Allie!π
I do hope he decides to keep going for some runs with you as it makes you happy.π«
My hubby has mentioned he should start trying short runs again...for the exercise (he did c25k with me in 2015 but not run since)... fingers crossed it happens...nagging won't help!πxxxx
Haha, youβre right! Nagging definitely doesnβt help. I was quite surprised when I tossed it out there that he jumped on it. Weβve ran another one together and it was also good; quicker but good. That was the biggest issue we had running together was he always wants to run faster than me but weβll find a balance iβm sure. He wants to keep the runs shorter for now so they can be my tempo runs - short, sweet and fast.
Great photo Sask! You guys look like you are really enjoying yourselves. Iβve been working on getting Mrs Decker out for a run as well. Maybe next year! π
It was really fun! I had almost convinced him a few times before but the distance I had always planned to run would turn him off. This worked well because we ran whatever he wanted then after our obligatory selfie I carried on for a bit on my own. The next run we did was together for the whole thing but was ran quicker; still short and sweet. Perhaps you can convince Mrs. Decker if you promise a nice little tootle where she picks the pace and distance; a βno pressure runβ. I hope you can convince her, itβs a nice way to spend some time together. If she enjoys communing in Nature, maybe one of your trail runs will entice her better?
What a lovely photo of you both. I hope he enjoyed his run.
