Musical reflections at the end of the year.

Since it’s the time of year to be looking back there were a couple of tracks on my Spotify play list today that struck a chord. At this point I must emphasize that it’s a playlist I chose for it’s bpm NOT the music as it’s certainly not a reflection of my preferred listening!! I also tend to hear snippets as opposed to the whole lyrics so the overall sentiment of the tracks may not be appropriate. That said, these bits stuck with me . .

This is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain and 100% reason to remember the name. This could be the subtitle of C25K!! Just juggle the numbers depending on your run! It’s by Fort Minor and quite explicit so beware - the pace is great for me though

The other one is

How far we’ve come. By Matchbox twenty

This time last year many of us were not runners (or even thinking about it!) so we should all step back and celebrate.

Merry Christmas fellow runners. 🏃🏼‍♀️ 🏃🏼

Very true about how far we have come! What a good place to be in.

I find I run quicker to music rather than podcasts, so may give these a look up.

Out of interest what bpm are you running to?

I use 165-170 but if you’ve a Fitbit you can see what your usual speed is and then just plug it in as a search. Someone had already made my playlist (I’m lazy - and not sure how to do it!!)

Thanks Sybilw! I don't have a fit bit or Garmin and after finding out how much quicker I was with music, after quite a while of listening to podcasts (and enjoying both to be honest) I think I will look into more music options on Spotify.

Wow yes, this time last year, (or in my case 15months ago, no running on the radar at all - it was a thing I believed I couldn’t do!

Music😄 - I still chuckle at Skyfall for a cool down, “ This is the end..”!

.. and still like to dance along to a selection of jazz amongst many others. 😀

It’s important to remember how we struggled at the start. It’s easier to look at our present struggles!!
