Cold dark foggy ...

But I made myself go out in my Argos high vis vest, part way along put the red lights on, further along put my phone torch on as well and although it wasn’t my plan for today I ended up with my first ever 10k. Speedy? Of course not. Pace was more than a minute per km slower than my parkrun pace. Cold foggy dark and slow. But 10k is 10k.

Congratulations Arthur on running that 10K between Arbroath and Carnoustie, I assume that was mainly off road or along minor B roads. Years ago when I went a visit to Arbroath the main A92 Dundee to Arbroath Road was a single carriageway with a lot of accidents, now its a safer duel carriageway road.

Yes it was the Angus Coastal Path - you can see the A92 dual carriage way on the map and it's some way from the path. That meant it was unlit though and I thought of stopping at Easthaven but decided to use the torch app on my phone till I got to the street lights in Carnoustie. Annoying thing is I got a free head torch at the Supernova 5k at the Kelpies last week but it seems to have fallen out of my car before I left Falkirk. Might need to think about buying one, though I'll have more daylight hours to play with from February due to dropping a couple of other commitments.

Great run. Congratulations on the 10k and logically 10k should have a slower pace... my app has guided fartleks that do things like easy pace, 10k pace, 5k pace, mile pace, and then the dreaded best pace, with jogging intervals... the one they released today looks “fun”

Brilliant. Well done on a good 10km. Great you got out there. Your gear sounds good, running lights too!

It was actually recommended to me on here. It's called LED running vest: to be clear, though, it's not a running vest as such: even in summer modesty would forbid wearing it without something underneath. It's very, very lightweight but is high vis with reflective stripes and on the back it has two strips that have LEDS inside so they light up by themselves. No light in front, I imagine they presume you'd have a head torch if you needed one, just stripes to reflect car headlights. Pretty cheap too, I can't find it on the Argos website at the moment though.

You've come so far Arthur! Literally.

Unlike me - I'm going backwards. Not literally.

Well done you. :)

Not having that. For one, if it wasn't for you I might not have started this. For two, you're still running 5k on a reasonably regular basis. And for three, I might seem to be making more progress on running if you measure it by statistics, but I'm not swimming and cycling as well: you are.

Brilliant Arthur! You’re right, 10k is most certainly 10k no matter how fast or slow it is! Mine was snail-like, but I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. 😀

Well done you! Hope you’re still glowing with pride, as well you should be! 🏃🏃👏👏👊👊
