Went out at 7am - nice clear frosty morning - looked forward to running my usual route. Had to stop after less than 2k - unbelievably slippy pavements - may have to seriously look now at using a treadmill over the winter months !!

Oh what a shame. 👎 You were wise to bail, it’s simply not worth the risk. You could be out for weeks or even longer if you got injured.
I’ve joined a gym so I can run all through the winter. I’ve only been on a treadmill a handful of times and the last time was nearly 20 years ago! Better than not running though. 😀
Hope you can get out again this week for another go. 🤞

Yikes that’s lethal. Is there a park or fields near you at all?
Ugh treadmills, noooo. Yaktrax! That's the way to go. They are great for ice, I go out all winter in them. I use the Pro ones with the velcro strap, else they tend to ping off, but don't bother with the fancy spiked running ones. I've bought an extra pair this year to get me into work and back too 😊
Photo evidence supplied (via Strava, as we can't add images to replies!). Many snowy and icy runs followed, but this was a good example of their effectiveness:

Thanks for the information on Yaktrax . Will have a look at the ones with the velcro strap. I've never been on a treadmill and it wouldn't be my first choice but thought I'd give it a try over the winter months - we'll see.......
I went on one for gait analysis and have never been on one since. I just can't see the point. Being outside is what I love about running, freedom and fresh air, using a treadmill seems like a quick path to disillusionment for me. And it's expensive too! Horses for courses, but I'd just far rather be outside in the wild and I grip like there's no ice at all when wearing these guys.

Sounds like going out later is the answer lexiemcd . I’d much rather be on the treadmill than icy streets.
