I've experienced towns, housing estates, canals, parks, farmland, woodland and many hills to name but a few but hadn't managed a beach until this week. I now have a twinkle in my eye & a spring in my step!
We've been staying on the Gower Peninsula for a few days just a 2 min walk down to the beach and have enjoyed 2 fabulous 5ks. Not the fastest of runs at around 34mins as I had several photo stops and a couple of slow walks up onto the coast path (which Mr Zippy Malinki ran up energetically).
Despite the cold this morning it was bright & invigorating with hardly anyone else to share the beach with. I deliberately ran quite close to the sea as I was making up for not doing a beach hack. I could only find one centre nearby and they obviously prefer large groups as they wanted assurance you could galllop. I used to ride on the beach a lot up in the lakes & will happily canter anywhere but haven't galloped for about 2O yrs so sadly gave it a miss. I compensated by humming 'on white horses' & the black beauty theme.
The photo collage is going to go on my classroom wall to remind myself why I love running & to go home on time so that I can indulge in said activity!!

Ah lovely 💕😃👍🏃♀️ What could be finer 😁. Well the weather could have been a tad warmer but we can’t gave everything It looks bright on your photos though
Yes, this week has been great for headspace & the soul. We've done lots of coastal walking and enjoyed the light and space despite the cold.
8 weeks is long - this is always the killer term in my books! Sounds like you've tried hard to get a good balance with 3 runs a week though. Hope you keep going & find a lovely photo to whisper gently to you to GO HOME!!
Humming along with you Slinky! I’ve enjoyed running by the sea up on Bute and closer to home in Morecambe since I started - you do have to keep stopping to take photos tho!! And pinching yourself of course 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I bet Bute was stunning! I only seem to take photos on scenic runs or 10k (it gives me permission to stop & catch my breath!). I used to live the other side of Morecambe in the South Lakes near Cartmel and ride on the sands (at the safe times!). I imagine it would be lovely having a run on there now but at the time I thought running was something that crazy people did!!!
Hmm 🤔 crazy people eh??!! At the beginning of the year I drove past lots running up the very steep hill at the beginning of my commute thinking these people are bonkers....now I think well it’s not that steep!!
I’ve got some snow run pics from Morecambe seafront earlier this year. We went up to ulverston too and got caught in snow there too. We’d gone for the footy but by the time we got there the match had been called off 🙄. I managed a 12k 🙂
Ahh! ... the Black Beauty theme tune!! "Galloping home" if it remember rightly and I used to have it on 45rpm vinyl.😍🐎. Gorgeous photos from a beautiful place too! 🙂
Lovely running slinkymalinki. Although I can run along the prom any day in Southsea, it’s always nice to see less populated seascapes . Lovely weather for half term too. We’ve had families having picnics on the beach , unusual for October.
Thank you, Sandra. I'd forgotten it was called Galloping Home. You are a true fan, if you had it on vinyl (am quite jealous) - I still have some Black Beauty annuals, think the earliest is 1973!
Gosh, you lucky thing. i would love to run by the sea, especially on hard packed sand. Though i would imagine soft sand is like my ploughed field adventure! Lovely photos too xx
Much as I love where I live, it was good to have a change of scenery and sea air. You're right about the soft sand - sinking and squelchy just like the field! x
