It's another marvellous Monday morning - welcome to a new week!
Sometimes we don't feel like writing a whole post, sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day!!
Recent C25K graduate still building up to 5K? Consolidating 5K, or perhaps working towards 10K? Seasoned 10K pro? Wherever you are with your running, this is the place to chat about it!!!
Or even if you just want to post a quick hello - itβs lovely to hear from you all π
My most recent running route was through Brighton town centre, mainly because I wanted to take some photographs! I got this nice Autumny shot of the Pavilion in front of a blinding Teletubbies sun ππ₯
Are you a town or a country runner? Pavement or trails? Or some of each?
Anyway, have a great week running, everyone!

What a wonderful photo ! I'm a country trail runner - in parks mostly. My races are road races and my poor old knees suffer. I'm going to France this weekend and thinking of doing an 8.7km through the streets of Nantes. The route includes running up a set of stone steps (my current goal is to run more hills!) . My problem is that I have to get a medical cert to participate. It's obligatory for all sporting events in France. I'm currently researching how to do that.
I think Iβve found a GP over there who will write one for me. Fingers crossed ! Although they worry about not knowing you in case you keel over and the race organisers sue them
Lovely photo! I run country when Iβm at home. Weekdays I head to the city and run either the 4 lane highway (its not pretty and is boring), or run the house lined streets and look at the gardens and houses, recently I discovered an inner city path that runs along a ravine - they call it a trail, but itβs asphalt, so although itβs nicer than the highway it is not my idea of a trail. Lots of dog walkers on the βtrailβ and the squirrels are tame because someone leaves handfuls of seed and nuts for them on the path. It is becoming my new happy place π
Hi roseabi. Not really amazing, but itβs nice and peaceful. I like to take different exits from the trail that drop me out into a street that I donβt know, then I have to work out my way back. My sense of direction is not the best and that just adds to the fun of exploring.
Countryside running for me but I do like a bit of smooth tarmac under foot.
I achieved a bit of a milestone on Saturday, took the extra time gifted to me by the kids being at their grandparents to have a crack at half marathon distance.
Nice mixture of fields, roads, farm tracks and trails by the river. Started at 7am so got to see the sun coming up over the fields which I think is my favourite part of morning running at this time of year. The final 3k was a bit tough (only ever managed 18k before) and I think my choice of route didnβt help as there were quite a few stiles on that section (felt like a mountain to my tired legs).
Plan to take it easy this week and for a few weeks to come. I suppose at some point I might enter a race of some sorts, but Iβve only really ever run alone (or with the kids) so not sure Iβll enjoy it.
Oh well done Tony. Sounds lovely apart from the stiles. I love running alone and can't imagine being in a running group. BUT I do enjoy a race - may even be getting addicted to them. Try one maybe just to see if it's for you or if the other runners would drive you insane Any thoughts about doing an organised half marathon?
Itβs a possibility. There is a 10k just up the road on Sunday that I was tempted to enter but a rugby tournament for my eldest has clashed (or given me an excuse not to enter). I probably will try something at some point and Iβm now confident I could get round a half so I wouldnβt feel too worried about starting there.
Hello roseabi, a beautiful picture of the pavilion. I used to live in Hove Actually and saw all the damage in the storms of 1987.
Iβm now living in Southsea with coastal runs along the prom and view the ever changing scenery. I also enjoy running along a disused railway line on Hayling Island.
I usually do my long runs (about 10k) on the seafront, some is tarmac and some track. Now the evenings are dark it is the only off-road place I feel safe to run. I was getting a bit bored of my route so last night I varied it by going in a loop inland around the smaller roads (I don't like going on main roads and breathing in all the traffic fumes) and ending up back on the seafront for the final stretch. Well I didn't enjoy road running much - too many cars and people - so it was a relief to get back on the promenade. Especially with the moonlight reflecting across the sea - beautiful!
I would really like to do more trail running in the countryside, but as I seem to have become addicted to Park Run, that's Saturdays out, and Sundays are rest days. That means I have to run evenings or very early in the morning, when it is dark. So until I can run on consecutive days (roll on March!) it looks like the seafront for me, at least on the long runs. Well I can't grumble really, so lucky to have this on my doorstep π ππ
What a fab photo. I graduated C25K last week. I dont think I want to run further than 5k, so thats my aim for now. W9R3 I ran 4k in 30 minutes. Today was my first run as a graduate. I ran the full 5k in 38:05. Im pretty chuffed. I used to run a few years ago but never consistently and I'd have more walking sections than running ones. I can't believe I've ran 5k non stop.
Great photo, cheered me right up, I'm at the airport just returning to Gatwick after a great holiday. I had just graduated and brought my running gear with me and I'm feeling chuffed as I managed to fit in 6 consolidation runs, in Spain, one of which was my first 5k. I'm amazed I managed to keep running. I've mainly been running on concrete, but I want to start running around my local park, on grass, as I'm creaky...! I'm defo going to do a park run soon.......ish.
Great photo! Iβm definitely a trail runner and frequently get lost but itβs all good!! Iβve had a great week, much to my surprise, I completed my first 10k on Wednesday and Iβve just done my first Parkrun today!!! A very happy π! Enjoy your weekend π
